'Tron Legacy' Set for December 2010

Disney has announced a December 17, 2010 release date for the anticipated "Tron Legacy," arriving in theaters (and probably IMAX) in 3-D on that day. This puts it up against Michel Gondry's "The Green Hornet," which Sony just moved to that spot last week, as well as "Yogi Bear" and Sony's "The Smurfs" (also in 3-D).

It's a perfect date for "Tron Legacy" because it builds off the hype of another big sci-fi 3-D event movie that will come out almost exactly one year before, "Avatar" (which comes out Dec. 18 this year).

In this highly anticipated digital 3-D adventure, Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with a loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

"Tron Legacy" has already finished shooting and will be in post-production for the next 15 months before its release. Watch the teaser trailer below that was shown at Comic-Con last year and gave the film the greenlight.

Indeed it does.
Have you seen the first "Tron" movie?
It was BA for its time.

Now it is fun/funny to watch. Still a good movie though.
