Box Office results for the weekend!
1 Toy Story 3 $109.0 M
2 The Karate Kid $29.0 M
3 The A-Team $13.7 M
4 Get Him To The Greek $6.1 M
5 Shrek Forever After $5.5 M
6 Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time $5.2 M
7 Killers $5.1 M
8 Jonah Hex$5.0 M
9 Iron Man 2 $2.6 M
10 Marmaduke $2.6 M
"Toy Story 3" had biggest debut in June history, taking in $109 million this weekend and extending Pixar's streak of opening at the top of the box office to 11.
The last film of the franchise bested its competition — and predecessors — by a mile. The original movie opened at $39.1 million in 1995, while "Toy Story 2" made $83 million four years later.
This time around, the cartoon added 3-D and Imax to the mix, boosting repeat business as kids checked out the film in different formats.
Sadly the film doesn't have the biggest opening weekend for an animated film, as that title is still held by "Shrek the Third" at $121 million.
Still the film will continue to make big bucks as it has amazing word-of-mouth. And let me tell you it really is a great film. The first thing I did when I got home after the flick was take out all my old toys from the closet that I hadn't touched in years and play with them. I know - that's weird. But the movie practically compels you to. Go see it and tell me I'm wrong.
Other films dropped a respectable amount, with only one other film opening this past weekend.
Poor "Jonah Hex." It bombed terribly. The budget has been estimated at around $60 million and the film only made $5 million its opening weekend. And it will only drop lower from there. There goes Megan Fox's career down the toilet!
Expect "Toy Story 3" to hold the top spot next weekend as well since I don't expect "Knight and Day" and "Grown Ups" beating out the kid factor.

"The Karate Kid" has won a 1980s showdown at the box office against "The A-Team."
The remake of 1984's "Karate Kid" debuted at No. 1 for the weekend while big-screen adaptation of the 1980s TV series "The A-Team" came in at No. 2 with less than half what "Karate Kid" made.
After three weekends at No. 1, "Shrek Forever After" slipped to No. 3, raising its domestic gross to $210.1 million, becoming the fourth movie released this year to top $200 million.
Other films continues to slip n' slide to DVD land. Some making modest amounts of money, some not even making back its budget. All in all, this has been a slow summer so far and might not pick up but for a few more films. Next summer is going to be a doozy though.
Expect "Toy Story 3" to dominate the weekend. I really have no idea where "Jonah Hex" is going to wind up, but it does have Megan Fox in it...

Movie News Rush 11
"The Crow"
The news - Producer Edward Pressman says the script is finished and they've made an offer "to a major actor and things are moving ahead very aggressively, with the aim of doing the film this year." He also revealed more about their adaptation including differences from Proyas' version, mainly that this isn't just a remake of Proyas original film adaptation but rather an entire relaunch of the franchise, originally based on James O'Barr's comic book. Other things Pressman mentioned is how the setting will be in the Southwest and the actual crow will play a bigger part than it did in the original film.

The 2010 MTV Movie Awards
I've decided to stay away from the MTV Movie Awards since I realize it's going to be a Twi-fest, but I'm sure there will be some funny clips from the show that can be put online the next day.
As for funny clips that are online now, MTV has released two new promos for this year’s MTV Movie Awards featuring Tom Cruise’s popular character, Les Grossman, from the 2008 comedy "Tropic Thunder." In the promos, Grossman, whose profanity-laced outbursts were one of the best parts of "Tropic Thunder," offers hilariously questionable advice (and abuse) to the stars of the "Twilight" franchise, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.
The Pattinson one is quite hilarious while the Lautner one is...eh...not that great.
"Get Him to the Greek"
The news- You can watch the first five minutes of this film online, and from what I hear it's pretty funny and outrageous. I say this because I have decided not to watch it as I want this film to totally surprise me when I see it in theaters. You may choose your own fate.
"Gulliver's Travels"
The news- The first trailer has come out for this film and...it doesn't really look good. Expect it to make money though since it's a kid's flick.

Nobody was expecting "Shrek 4" to win the weekend. Since last Memorial Day weekend "Night at the Museum 2" did the best, we should have expected this maybe.
"Sex and the City 2" probably would have been No. 1 had it not opened on Thursday with about $14 million. But adding that with its weekend numbers still shows it had a smaller oepning than the first "Sex and the City" film (which was $56.8 million). Can the film match the $152.6 million domestic total of the first film? BTW, women made up 90 percent of the audience for "Sex and the City 2." Go figure.
"Prince of Persia" pretty much bombed. A good opening for most films, but not one made on a $200 million budget. Not expecting this to become a big franchise now...
Other films slip down to DVD land with "Iron Man 2" still making some money. It is right now $35 million away from passing "Iron Man"'s total.
Next week a few new films come out. Will "Shrek 4" take the top spot again or will it fall to a new film (or one of the films that opened this past weekend)? We'll have to wait and see.

'Get Him to the Greek' Red-Band Trailer
Universal Studios has released a restricted/red band/ whatever you want to call it trailer for the upcoming comedy "Get Him To The Greek" starring Russell Brand and Jonah Hill.
The first trailer for the film came out a month ago and introduced us to the new world of Aldous Snow.
This new trailer features the usual assortment of dirty jokes and gags. There's actually some pretty funny stuff minus Aziz Ansari's little opening here. Those kinds of jokes can get old fast...especially since we all just want to see Russell Brand do his thing!
Before you watch the trailer you have to enter your birth date. If you're underage, call your parents and ask for their permission. If they say "No." then just lie about your age.
"Get Him to the Greek" hits theaters June 4, 2010.
More news to come! Catch ya' later!

Get Him to the Greek On-Set Footage
"Get Him to the Greek" is a spin-off of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" focusing on the character of Aldous Snow as played by British sex-addict Russell Brand. It's written and directed again by "Sarah Marshall's" Nicholas Stoller and stars Jonah Hill, Rose Byrne, Elisabeth Moss, Katy Perry, and P. Diddy.
"Get Him to the Greek" is about a record company intern (Jonah Hill) who is hired to accompany the "out-of-control British rock star" Aldous Snow to a concert at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles.
MTV News debuted some on-set footage of the film following Russell Brand and showing a night club scene being filmed for the movie.
Is it just me or does Jonah Hill's voice sound weird (like he lost it or is sick)?

Get Him to the Greek

According to Entertainment Weekly, "Jonah Hill and Russell Brand will be joined by Rose Byrne ('Damages'), Elisabeth Moss ('Mad Men'), and Sean Combs in the 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' sequel, 'Get Him to the Greek,' which is scheduled to begin shooting this summer.
The movie, from Universal Pictures, centers on Brand's outrageous character from 'Marshall', the out-of-control British rock star Aldous Snow, and Aaron, a music-company intern (Hill, in a different role from the one he played in 'Marshall') who must accompany Snow to a concert at L.A.'s Greek Theater.
Moss is set to play Daphne Binks, Aaron's girlfriend, while Byrne will be in the role that Emily Blunt was once incorrectly rumored to have, that of a promiscuous pop musician named Jackie Q, who may perform a duet with Snow. Combs has been cast as Sergio, the head of the entertainment company for which Hill's character works. Writer/director Nicholas Stoller ('Marshall') will direct this followup, based on a screenplay he also penned. Judd Apatow is producing."
Last I posted about this film was way back in December. Sounds like the movie is getting off the ground now and is ready to get made.
"Get Him to the Greek" is scheduled to come out in April 2010.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall Spin-Off
Hopefully you have seen the entertaining comedy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" starring Jason Segal, Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis and Russel Brand.
Brand played the crazed British rock musician Aldous Snow and was one of the funniest characters in the movie.
Now it is possible Aldous Snow may be getting his own movie.
In a movie titles "Get Him to the Greek," a fresh-out-of-college insurance adjuster is hired to accompany out-of-control British rock star Aldous Snow to a concert at L.A.'s Greek Theater. But the rocker is so out of control it leads to more than what everyone involved bargained for.
Supposedly Jonah Hill, who was in "Superbad" and played Matt the waiter in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," will follow his hero Aldous Snow in the crazy adventures.
Nicholas Stoller, director of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and director of the upcoming spin-off was in an interview with Latino Review about his other upcoming movie, a new "Gulliver's Travels" starring Jack Black.
But Stoller was able to put word in about "Get Him to the Greek."
Nicolas: It's character based. It's a road movie, so they go to London, New York, Vegas and then are in L.A. And I'm trying to be very specific about where they are in each of those places. It's kind of, you're following Jonah's character into this rock star universe.
And Russell plays the same character?
Nicolas: He does.
And Jonah's not?
Nicolas: Jonah's not the same character.
So how will this comedy spin-off play out? We will have to wait and see. Both "Gulliver's Travels" and "Get Him to the Greek" are slated for a 2010 release.
