'Wolverine 2' Script Finished and Shooting to Begin in Jan. 2011

THR's Showbiz 411 has confirmed that the sequel to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" will be ready to begin shooting by January of 2011.

Christopher McQuarrie ("The Usual Suspects," "Valkyrie") has finished the screenplay for the project, which will see star Hugh Jackman returning as the metal-clawed mutant.

In Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's 1982 four-issue comic book miniseries, Wolverine journeys to the Far East to track down former fiancee Mariko Yashida and learns the ways of the samurai. He battles a ninja clan called The Hand as he struggles with whether to give in to his animalistic killer instincts or follow the samurai code of honor and respect.

There is no director yet, but THR's Roger Friedman says the script is a bit different than originally thought.

"It's a beautiful story," a source said, "and will be very different than the first film."

And that's a good thing as I'm hoping "Wolverine 2" will be better than the first film. While it was a decent action flick, it was nothing to really get excited about.

They're definitely in the right direction with McQuarrie writing the screenplay as I think he's a great writer (he won an Oscar for "The Usual Suspects"). Secondly, they're using the storyline from Wolverine's Japanese comic book arc from the 80s, which is amazing and will hopefully translate well to the big screen. And they're hiring a Japanese actress to play opposite Hugh Jackman as his love interest.

Now all that's left is to find a director who can put the finishing touches on and show us the "Wolverine" movie we've wanted to see. I'm not expecting it to be rated-R, but maybe they can make it a hard PG-13 like "The Dark Knight."

Producer Updates on 'X-Men' Franchise

In an interview with Empire Online, producer Lauren Shuler Donner has shed further light on upcoming films in the "X-Men" franchise.

Although the interview doesn't give us any more detail on the "X-Men 4" and "New Mutants" projects that Donner had previously mentioned, it does talk about "Wolverine 2," "X-Men Origins: Magneto," "X-Men: First Class" and "Deadpool."

As teased at the end of "Wolverine" and widely rumored directly after its release, "Wolverine 2" will take place in Japan as Logan learns to control some of his more beast-like tendencies. It is the furthest along of all the possible "X-Men" films and will actual be made in Japan.

Says Donner:
"It's actually the story we wanted to use for the first Wolverine film, but [Fox head honcho] Tom Rothman preferred to set the character up with an origin story first. This movie will really focus on the relationship between Wolverine and Mariko, the daughter of a Japanese crime lord, and what happens to him in Japan. We're very fortunate to have a story mostly outlined for us [from the comic book arc co-written by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller]. And we wanted an A+ writer, so we want to Chris McQuarrie (Valkyrie, The Usual Suspects). He came in and has tightened the story and got really immersed in the whole thing - he's in Japan in his head!

What's cool about this part of the saga is that Wolverine will be fighting in a different style to what we've seen before. Mariko's father has this stick-like weapon, so Wolverine will have to fight against that. There'll be samurai, ninja, katana blades, different forms of martial arts - mano-a-mano, extreme fighting. We're going to come up with a new style of fighting. It's going to be awesome."

Deadpool was pretty disrespected in "Wolverine," but the good news is that the solo-"Deadpool" flick starring Ryan Reynolds will be a re-launch of the character's mojo. As in: breaking the fourth wall and starting over without having his mouth sewn shut.

Says Donner:
"We're right in the thick of talking to writers right now, and hopefully by November we'll have decided who's going to do it. We need someone really imaginative because we want to do some really innovative, ambitious stuff. Ryan's mentioned this in an interview already but there are parts where he's going to break the fourth wall and talk directly to the audience in the cinema. We have to work out how to do that. I don't know that Fox will agree with all our decisions, but we'll see!"

"X-Men: First Class" is teased at the end of "Wolverine" when Professor X makes a cameo, and according to Donnor will be the X-Men Universe by the way of "Harry Potter." As in: lots of hormone-charged kids with superpowers fighting evil and each other.

Says Donner: "Right now the script is not done -we're not where we want to be yet. We have to be careful that we don't tread on familiar territory, that people don't say, 'Oh, I've seen that, been there.' But (screenwriter) Josh Schwartz has a great young pulse and he's doing an amazing job bringing the characters to life. We want to make this a franchise, following these kids at the school, so the casting of the child actors will be all-important."

At first it looked like "Magneto" would launch a series of "Origins" stories, but Wolverine and Hugh Jackman proved to be a better vehicle for fan service. Now, "Magneto" is at the end of the line out of all the possible "X-Men" films.

Says Donner:
"David Goyer has written a brilliant script. It starts in the concentration camps and has Magneto coming out of there. But you know, I'm not sure that film is going to be made. The studio has a wealth of potential stories, and they have to stand back and decide which ones to make. And Magneto, I think, is at the back of the queue. Maybe it'll get made in five years - who knows?"

What are your thoughts on "Wolverine 2" going full steam ahead while "Magneto" is on the backburner? Are the "Deadpool" and "First Class" plans to your liking?

Hugh Jackman Defends 'Wolverine'

While comic book fans and critics were divided (and the fanboys are STILL arguing), "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" has been a hit at the box office and has already done well on DVD/Blu-ray.

As reported earlier, Hugh Jackman is already working on a sequel inspired by the Japanese storylines in the comics.

In an interview with CBS with Katie Couric, Jackman elaborates a little more on the planned follow-up and also defends the previous film as well as his continuous involvement with the Marvel character.

Gavin Hood and Lauren Shuler Donner On 'Wolverine 2'

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" comes out on DVD and Blu-ray next month and director Gavin Hood and producer Lauren Shuler Donner held a promotional Q&A session at Fox studios in Los Angeles.

As well as talking about the special features on the DVD/Blu-ray, they spoke about the planned sequel and further "Wolverine" movies beyond that.

Here are the some of the key points raised by Gavin and Lauren, as reported by Latino Review:

On whether the success of the first film means they'll take greater liberties or feel greater pressure to stay true to the source material:

Lauren Shuler Donner: I think it's our responsibility to remain true to the source material. There are other influences and other factors that make us deviate from it, the first of which being transcribing it to the screen. We certainly are fully aware of the fan base and try in every way possible to stay close to the source material. I think in 'Wolverine' it was a little bit different because there was a lot of different source material, a lot of different legends in Victor Creed's relationship to Logan and Logan's background. There were some choices we had to make. Certainly in 'Wolverine 2,' in the Japanese saga, we will stay very close to the source material. I think it's just best that way.

On whether they would ever draw on the more recent Wolverine comic book stories:

LSD: There are 40 years of material. Chris Claremont, they're still writing. Chris is writing an amazing series right now where Wolverine's killed, Storm is the villain. Sure, one day I'd love to do that.

On whether Wolverine could turn into a long, Bond-style franchise:

LSD: Yes, that would be wonderful. There's enough comic book material to support it. If we were to make up our own story, which we've never talked about, personally I would do it with Chris Claremont. I would stick with the creator.

On why a scene showing a young Storm encountering Wolverine was deleted:

Gavin Hood: Storm's the only one that didn't make the movie because there's only so many characters you can put in without it feeling a little cluttered. Lauren made the point, I think rightly, that none of the other movies have Storm giving any hint of having met Logan [before].

On what story possibilities they had kept in mind for a sequel:

GH: I just think that the Japanese story is so iconic and beautiful and could be so visual. That's the one and I'm reluctant to talk about others because I know Len [Wein]'s writing others now. And honestly, here's the truth: if the Japanese story works, there might be another sequel. And if it doesn't, there won't be. You can get ahead of yourselves by sort of stirring up rumors of what might be. I'm not going to even go there.

I don't even know if I would be involved. Right now I'm not attached. Nobody's attached. They're developing a script and we'll see where everybody is. I'm hoping to be shooting something next year and I don't think that Wolverine will be ready for next year. I haven't been approached one way or another. The studio is obviously very cautious. They want to see how Wolverine does on DVD. Let them develop the script, let's see what the script looks like, let's see how the studio feels about the script, how Hugh feels about it and then we'll take it from there."

'Wolverine 2': Plot, Writer, Director and Villains

The list is not complete, but it is getting there. "Wolverine 2" will supposedly take place in Japan, but how faithful will it be to the comics, who will write the new script, who will direct this new film and what new mutant might we see?

Actor Hugh Jackman spoke with MTV News and shed some light on how he plans to adapt Wolverine's Japan storyline from the comics.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar-winning screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie ("The Usual Suspects") will script the follow-up to this year's solo debut for the Marvel mutant.
No stranger to the X-Men universe, McQuarrie was one of several uncredited screenwriters on the 2000 "X-Men" film, which he worked on alongside his frequent collaborator, director Bryan Singer. While McQuarrie's attachment is certainly interesting on its own, what it could mean about a potential return to the franchise for Singer is also worth contemplating.

Due to a court decision, WB has to have a new Superman film in production by 2011. Singer might be too busy for a follow-up to "Superman Returns" as the filmmaker was just announced as the director of a "Battlestar Galatica" movie. With the "Galactica" project being fast-tracked by Universal, there's likely to be little room left in Singer's schedule for a major project like a "Superman" sequel.

What would be a good fit on Singer's calendar is a film scheduled to hit theaters sometime during 2012—something like, for example, the sequel to "Wolverine." Hugh Jackman told MTV News that Fox is looking to follow the every-three-years plan for releasing installments of their "X-Men" films, and Singer previously expressed some regrets about leaving the popular franchise, so the situation certainly seems right for the director to return.

As for villains, we know "Wolverine 2" is going to follow the story of his experiences in Japan from the popular Frank Miller and Chris Claremont comic book.

With that being the basis for the story of the sequel, it’s an obvious choice to have the Silver Samurai (real name: Ken Harada) be a villain or at least a key character in the movie.
He’d make for a great character on screen with his power to channel energy into any object, notably his katana sword, to the point where it can cut through the strongest of materials (except Wolvy’s Adamantium of course).

Giving meaning to their encounters would be the hardships evolving from Wolverine falling in love with the Silver Samurai’s half-sister, Mariko Yashida, a key plot thread in Wolverine’s journey to Japan.

Moving on to another popular X-character who’s been talked about online for years, and whom many fans would love to see featured on screen: Omega Red (real name: Arkady Rossovich), the mutant-healing-serial-killer-turned-failed-super-soldier-experiment of the Soviet government.
Similar to Wolverine’s Weapon X history, Omega Red was augmented with a metal alloy called Carbonadium (It’s basically the Soviets’ artificial version of Adamantium) in the form of tentacles which give him his trademark appearance.

Eventually, the Soviet government froze him in suspended animation where he stayed until being re-awakened after the Soviet government had fallen.

In the comics Wolverine was sent on a mission to steal the Carbonadium Synthesizer from Omega Red. It was the last mission where they worked together as part of Team X.

Team X is the team of mutants we saw Wolverine and Sabretooth working for in the early parts of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." In the comics, its roster is very similar to the film adaptation, including Maverick (who is Agent Zero in the movie), Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson in the movie), Silver Fox (Wolvy’s girlfriend in the movie post-Team X), and John Wraith (Will.I.Am’s teleporting mutant).
They’ve introduced all of those characters already, so they could do something with Omega Red. All they’d need to do is show flashbacks in the sequel and bring back all the actors for a few scenes.

In the Marvel continuity, that mission against Omega Red was their last as Team X, which could be simply altered in the movie. In the comics, Sabretooth and Wolverine steal the Carbonadium Synthesizer from Omega Red, causing the big Russian to continually hunt them down over the years, leading to multiple violent encounters.

But wait, what does any of that have to do with the Japanese storyline? Well, guess who revived Omega Red from his long cryogenic sleep? That would be Matsu’o Tsurayaba, a member of the ninja group, The Hand, based out of Japan - The same criminal underworld group who sought after the Silver Samurai in the comics to lead and unite them.

Is all of this coming together for you?
How faithful should "Wolverine 2" be to the comics? Should Bryan Singer return to the "X-Men" franchise? What mutants would you like to see in this sequel?

Hugh Jackman Updates on 'Wolverine 2'

Late last year, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" star Hugh Jackman began teasing that he'd like to bring Logan to Japan for a live-action adaptation of Frank Miller and Chris Claremont's fan-favorite story arc that had the Marvel Comics hero learning Eastern philosophy and fighting skills. While the actor offered up a confirmation of sorts prior to "Wolverine" hitting theaters that he was "talking to writers" about going the Japanese route for the sequel, the studio made it official after the film found success at the box office.

During this weekend's Teen Choice Awards, Jackman devoted part of his acceptance speech ("Wolverine" won the action/adventure film category) to teasing the aforementioned sequel -- and Logan's impending journey to Japan.

"Who knows, maybe Wolverine will use one of these when he heads to Japan," Jackman told the crowd, holding up the surfboard that served as the award. "See you next time around!"

Then MTV News spoke to Jackman backstage to learn more about the current status of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2."

What's Next for 'X-Men'?

The "X-men" franchise continues to move ahead, with several spin-offs planned following "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" which, despite poor reviews, has managed to pull in $357million worldwide so far.

A second "Wolverine" movie and a "Deadpool" spin-off have been confirmed as being in development while talks are also under way on a "Gambit" spin-off.

Also in the pipeline are "X-Men: First Class," about the early years of Xavier's school and set to feature young versions of Cyclops, Storm, Beast, Jean Grey and others; and "X-Men Origins: Magneto," showing the events that shaped the mutant archvillain played in the "X-Men" movies by Ian McKellen.

But which will be next?

David Goyer, who wrote the "Magneto" screenplay and was at one point attached to direct it, explained what was going on behind closed doors at 20th Century Fox.

He told Superhero Hype there had been "some preliminary discussions" about Magneto, although he did not confirm the status of his involvement with the project.

He added: "I think, at Fox, they're trying to decide if making a young X-Men film makes the most sense next [or] does Magneto make the most sense next. They're just trying to decide internally who's next up."

The end of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" certainly pointed towards "X-Men: First Class," but moving straight into that project omits Xavier's prior history with Magneto and leaps over the events that led to the establishment of the school.

I think the answer is to push forward with "X-Men Origins: Magneto" and "X-Men: First Class" almost simultaneously or with a maximum of one year apart. Why must we have three-year gaps between the X-Men movies?

And the studio should get Bryan Singer back, at least to executive-produce these films if he doesn't want to direct. Singer will notice all the details and potential continuity glitches that filmmakers less experienced with the franchise might overlook.

With a screenplay ready on "Magneto," it does seem the obvious choice to move forward first, once a director has been confirmed.

"X-Men: First Class," whose script was penned by "Gossip Girl" creator Josh Schwartz and recently reworked to tie in with what was seen in Wolverine, should follow closely behind.

The confirmed "Wolverine" sequel and "Deadpool" spin-off, along with the more nebulous and as-yet-unconfirmed "Gambit" film, do not yet have a script so they are unable to proceed at present anyway.

Hugh Jackman in Action

Hugh Jackman just finished with the opening of his blockbuster "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and now he has several other films in the works. Jackman and Seed Productions partner John Palermo are ramping up several projects for the "Wolverine" star.

Guardians of Ga’Hoole - Jackman is lending his voice to Zack Snyder's ("300," "Watchmen") animated film. Soren, a young barn owl, is kidnapped by owls of St. Aggie's, ostensibly an orphanage, where owlets are brainwashed into becoming soldiers. He and his new friends escape to the island of Ga'Hoole, to assist its noble, wise owls who fight the army being created by the wicked rulers of St. Aggie's. The film is based on the first three books in the series. (IMDb)

Ghostopolis - There is no writer or no director for the new Disney based feature. It centers on a man who works for the government’s Supernatural Immigration Task Force. His job is to send ghosts who have escaped into our world back to Ghostopolis. When a living boy accidentally is sent to the other side, the agent must team with a female ghost (and former flame) to bring him back.

The film is based on an upcoming graphic novel from Doug TenNapel and Jackman will produce the feature through his Seed Productions.

Personal Security - A film Jackman will star in as a tough Gotham police detective forced into bodyguard duty for a spoiled teen heiress who is receiving kidnapping threats. Matt Lieberman ("Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief") wrote the script.

Drive - A film in which Jackman will play a solitary man who drives race cars by day and getaway cars by night in Los Angeles. Hossein Amini wrote the recent draft, which Jackman supposedly said captured the tone of a Steve McQueen film.

Carousel - Long-in-the-works "Carousel" is also now a priority at Fox 2000, after David Magee turned in a script that Jackman said keeps the timeless spirit of the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic, but injects relevance for a contemporary audience. Jackman will play Billy Bigelow. On Jackman's wishlist for the role of Julie Jordan is Anne Hathaway, who dueted with him in the Oscarcast opening number. Negotiations have not begun with the actress.

Wolverine 2 - Fox and Seed are working on a sequel to the box-office topping X-Men Origins: Wolverine. As for storylines, they are squarely focusing on the samurai storyline originated in the comic series, and whose Japanese locale was teased as one of the film’s final credit Easter eggs. A writer has yet to be hired.

"Wolverine" won big money this past weekend even with the leak of the film about a month ago. People still wanted to see this movie. Other films are just petering out for the summer blockbusters to cash in for the rest of this month.

Next weekend should probably look the same though "Star Trek" will most likely take the lead and "Next Day Air" will replace some other movie on the board.

Will "Star Trek" make more money than "Wolverine?" Come back next week and we will find out!

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" starts off the summer with a bang. Lots of action and explosions for a film focusing on basically what the other "X-Men" films focused on, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

Let's start with the good parts and try not to give out any spoilers.
Jackman returns for the fourth time as Wolverine in the telling of how he gained the adamantium on his skeleton and lost his memory. The opening of the film is great. It sets up a montage showing James Logan (that's Wolvie's name!) and Victor Creed (Sabretooth) fighting wars through history.

The films has to go through a lot and the pacing is hard to manage, but it worked out well except giving little introduction to other characters.

So I guess besides the action entertainment I have nothing more good to say. Don't get me wrong, the film has high entertainment value, but for a comic fan like myself, it was kind of a letdown.

After being locked up, Logan and Creed join a mutant team going about doing...stuff. The boss, Stryker (a character who returns in "X2"), is collecting material from meteorites. There is no introduction to the rest of the team (Wade Wilson, Bolt, Blob, Wraith, Agent Zero) and without knowing who was in the film before hand and knowing their powers I would have been confused.

And I was confused. Not full knowing certain characters puzzled me because I didn't know every one's powers. I couldn't figure out what Agent Zero even was until I remembered in the comics he is better known as the mutant Maverick.

Somethings are glazed over to allow more time for Wolverine to cut a path of destruction. Other characters such as Emma Frost and Cyclops show up and really add nothing to the film. All the hype that was built up for Gambit was also disappointing.

Are these characters bad? Heck no! They were awesome, but they were all only in about three scenes. I do believe this was the intention of the writers. The movie is called "Wolverine" for a reason and that is to let us see him in action.

One last thing. Do we need two shouts at the sky? Just saying...it was a little overkill of the skycam and Wolverine shouting, "Nooooooooo!" I know this is a shout to the comics (they do that all the time in comics, usually right at the end) but I don't think it works as well as it does in film. And there are two characters in this film that are ripped straight from Ma and Pa Kent from "Superman."

Another problem is motive. Everyone's motives are very questionable. Why are characters doing what they are doing? At first the idea is passable, but on second thought it doesn't seem right. Everything that Sabretooth does is supposedly to get adamantium into him to be better than Wolverine, but he already was better and what he was doing ended up making Wolverine desperate enough to put the metal into his body. Stryker gives a good reason why he is doing lots of crazy stuff (more plot points from "X2" brought in for his past too).

This film is just a really grand set-up for other movies. A Gambit spin-off isn't necessary but since he won't be in "First Class," then it will be needed.

And yes, this film shouts "First Class." There is a cameo at the end that is like an advertisement for the next film (another motive question as to why that character was there at that perfect time). And there are two endings that take place after the credits. One leads to a possible "Wolverine 2" while the other leads to a possible "Deadpool" spin-off.

And yes! The controversial Deadpool. Been blogging about my problems with the character a lot and here it is. His character is not Deadpool but merely a monster of what he is supposed to be.

Latino Review said it best about Deadpool.
"Reynolds does a great job of capturing Wade Wilson's cocky banter and sure fired lethal skills, but when he's turned into Deadpool the character comes across as more of an abomination than shadow of his former self."

Where do we go next from here? So many "X-Men" ideas come from this film that it is possible to go from "First Class" to a reboot of the franchise by starting all over again. So many more spin-offs are in the work that it would be amazing if all the characters can be combined into one movie anymore.

The film is sure to make the big bucks and is a decent start to the summer. Was it worth the wait? Yeah, I enjoyed it. The movie could have been better but I'll take it as it is because it could have been even worse.

Wolverine the Musical

Did you like Hugh Jackman hosting this year’s Academy Awards presentation? Do you like his on-stage Broadway musical acts? Do you like seeing the Australian stud in his iconic role as the feisty mutant, Wolverine?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any or all of these things, Screen Rant found something for you.

It is a parody showing Hugh Jackman doing the two things he’s best at: playing Wolverine and a little theatrical song and dance.

Wolverine Endings After the Credits

According to USA Today, "Director Gavin Hood says the theatrical version of 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine,' due out Friday, features two different 'Easter egg' endings. The short bits of footage play after the credits and reveal important information about key characters. Hood says the two endings play on separate prints, so different theaters may show different footage."

According to my updated post from earlier about the multiple endings I only found out about two of them. Since there are only two then I know what they are about.

One shows more of Deadpool and can lead to the Deadpool spin-off while the other shows Wolverine in Japan.

Hugh Jackman said he is already in talks with screenwriters about making a "Wolverine" sequel and having it tell the Japan storyline from the comics.

"I won’t lie to you, I have been talking to writers,” Jackman told MTV News. “I’m a big fan of the Japanese saga in the comic book.”

“However, it was also another one of my goals that you could see the end of this movie parlaying straight into ['X-Men'], finding that guy in the bar, fighting, drinking, with not much recollection of what’s going on,” added Jackman. “I thought that was important. However, we’ll find out beginning of May if there’s still an audience for it, if people still like the character. There’s no point in telling the story if no one wants to hear it.

“There are so many areas of that Japanese story,” Jackman explained. “I love the idea of this kind of anarchic character, the outsider, being in this world — I can see it aesthetically, too — full of honor and tradition and customs and someone who’s really anti-all of that, and trying to negotiate his way. The idea of the samurai, too — and the tradition there. It’s really great. In the comic book he gets his ass kicked by a couple of samurai — not even mutants. He’s shocked by that at first.

“There’s also a great, very intricate story there with Mariko,” hinted Jackman in reference to one of Wolverine’s lost loves. “And so many cool ways we could go.”

Wolverine Premiere

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" has premiered in Tempe, Arizona and man does that place love X-Men.

"I’ve played this character for about nine years; I love the character,” said Jackman, who arrived to the “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” world premiere with great fanfare while riding a motorcycle into action, just like his claw-bearing mutant does in the flick. “[I] wanted to show the movie first to the most passionate X-Men and Wolverine fans, so we put a competition out online, and Tempe, Arizona, won. And I’ll tell you: These guys are passionate — they slept out two nights in a row [to get tickets]. Isn’t it the coolest thing?”

A nation-wide contest was done to compete for what city in America the film would premiere and Tempe, Arizona won. A marching band kicked off the confetti-heavy event, the jovial mayor handed Jackman a placard that gave him lifetime parking privileges anywhere in the city, and a gaggle of giggling high school cheerleaders swarmed Ryan Reynolds for a photo.

Check out the premiere and two exclusive clips below!

This is the way I know the Blob to look. This must take place some time after the beginning of the film where he us just muscular.

Actor Dominic Monaghan (Merry from "LOTR" and Charlie from "Lost") plays Chris Bradley, the electrical-powered mutant known as Bolt, in the "Wolverine" film. He wasn't in any of the trailers and none of his scenes were shown until finally now.

Though I do believe this is a spoiler because it basically shows that he won't be in anymore movies.

10Crank: High Voltage $2.4 M

I think women have had their fill of chick flicks. What I mean by this is that "Hannah Montana," "17 Again" and "Obsessed" are still up there. Sure, "Obsessed" might be an erotic thriller, but it isn't a good one.

And "Fighting" and "The Soloist" had terrible opening weekends, so those films won't be on long just like "Crank 2." But next weekend we start off the summer with "Wolverine."

That will be No. 1. But how much money will it earn?

Multiple Endings for Wolverine?

First Showing went to a screening of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" in LA where director Gavin Hood came out and explained something about the ending of the movie.

"He spent most of the time thanking us for coming to this screening and seeing 'Wolverine' the way it should be seen, in theaters, and talked about how many difference there were between the final cut and the early leaked version. He then mentioned that Marvel has a tradition of hiding easter eggs in their films, and it's no exception for 'Wolverine.' They've hidden multiple secret endings on different prints and theaters will be showing different versions.

Fox is a bit desperate to try and get people in theaters on May 1 for the opening and this definitely seems like a very unique decision to try and bring people in. While we've seen plenty of easter egg endings, like in 'Iron Man' last year, we haven't seen multiple endings like this in a long time. Hood didn't say how many different endings there would be. As for the other differences between the leaked version and the final cut, Hood explained that there were 400 unfinished visual effects shots and that there was no score, unfinished sound mixing, and unfinished coloring. However, he didn't mention anything about differences in footage."

Different endings depending on what theater you go to? So if I want to see all the endings I will have to find out which ending is at which theater and go to there?
Dang...that is a way to get more people to go to theaters.

I most likely will wait until the film is on DVD and watch them all there (unless they make different DVDs with different endings...which would suck). I don't have time or money to go about to different theaters to see the same movie with a different ending.

I will try to find out more news on this and see how many actual endings there are and how many theaters are doing this.

EDIT: Multiple endings have been confirmed to show after the credits for the film and there are two that I know of. One sets up for a possible "Deadpool" spin-off while another sets up for another "Wolverine" film taking place in Japan.

More Character Profiles for Wolverine

Got a nice new batch of character profiles for secondary characters in the new "Wolverine" movie.

They pretty much screwed Emma Frost up from the comics and The Blob looks retarded, but we aren't seeing this movie for them, are we?

Wade Wilson aka Deadpool

According to News 24, "Ryan Reynolds likes 'brutal, rugged and ugly' violence.

The 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' actor - who plays assassin Deadpool in the forthcoming superhero movie - only agreed to star in the film because it is so bloody.

He said: 'You're not going to see Kill Bill-style blood geysering up from severed heads! But I think you're going to see a kind of violence that's a little more brutal, rugged and ugly. Which is one of the things I liked about it.'

Ryan did all his own stunts in the movie, meaning he had to master the art of sword-fighting before shooting began and hopes audiences will be impressed with his new skills.

He explained: 'I trained for months to master the sword work, so he's obviously a master swordsman but he's also an accomplished fighter. There's martial arts, weaponry, everything. He's a guy you don't want to mess with.

'This character is like a surgeon. I've got to be so good with these swords that I put people's jaws on the floor.'"

The 32-year-old actor (who is married to Scarlett Johansson, who will also be joining the ranks of Marvel in "Iron Man 2") has been in involved with Marvel before. He played vampire-hunter Hannibal King in "Blade: Trinity," the third movie in the Blade series based on Marvel's fantasy horror comics.

Will Deadpool be awesome in the movie?

Wolverine Character Profiles

This is probably the coolest thing to come out for the "Wolverine" movie since its trailer debuted.

Watch the five character profiles below that are just pretty awesome to watch and really get the hype going for the film which comes out in less than three weeks.

WOLVERINE

SABRETOOTH

GAMBIT

DEADPOOL

WRAITH

The fate of the "X-Men" franchise rests upon this movie because if it doesn't do well, Fox might not be persuaded to make more "X-Men" films. But the rights will go back to Marvel someday, and then there could be more movies that tie into the world of "Avengers."
