Box Office results for the weekend!

1 Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs$24.6 M

2 Surrogates$15.0 M

3 Fame $10.0 M

4 The Informant! $6.9 M

5 Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself $4.7 M

6 Pandorum $4.4 M

7 Love Happens $4.3 M

8 Jennifer's Body $3.5 M

9 9 $2.8 M

10 Inglorious Basterds $2.7 M

"Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" takes the weekend again, but the numbers are so low from last weekend and this one that it still isn't really raking in a profit yet. If it makes No. 1 next weekend it may have a chance.

"Surrogates" didn't do as well as many had hoped (the Kid Factor wins out again). And "Fame" just didn't have an audience. I know only one person who has an interest in seeing this movie.

"Pandorum" doesn't have many theaters but it also didn't have much of an audience. The sci-fi people went to go see "Surrogates" instead.

Other films keep petering out. "Inglourious Basterds" is hanging in there but won't make the Top Ten next weekend (neither will "9" or "Jennifer's Body").

Next weekend actually has a lot of movies coming out at once. Will the Kid Factor dominate once again or will another film take the top spot? Anyone willing to bet on "Zombieland" doing well (I know I am going to see it)?

8 All About Steve$3.4 M

9 Sorority Row $2.4 M

10 The Final Destination $2.3 M

The Kid Factor wins again! Also the extra bucks from being 3-D probably helped as well. But seriously, "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" is the only movie people went to see this past weekend. All other films choked on those balls.

Why? Well "The Informant" had terrible marketing (I still have seen no trailers on it), "Love Happens" is a romantic comedy showing at the end of summer (worst time for that genre) and "Jennifer's Body" was a hot topic to discuss but not to see (Megan Fox, you are not a leading lady, go back to the robots, Tyler Perry did better than you).

Other films are getting pushed down the list (notice "Whiteout" is already gone), and I love how "9" is actually doing well despite its low amount of theaters (just saw it this past weekend.

Next weekend...I'm going with "Surrogates" just because it looks awesome. But the 'artistic' people will flock to "Fame." And don't forget the Kid Factor still remains.

Box Office results for the weekend!

1 I Can Do Bad All by Myself $24M

2 9 $10.9M $

3 Inglourious Basterds $6.55M

4 All About Steve $5.8M

5 The Final Destination $5.5M

6 Sorority Row $5.27M

7 Whiteout $5.1M

8 District 9 $3.6M

9 Julie & Julia $3.3M

10 Gamer $3.15M

Tyler Perry continues his winning streak with "I Can Do Bad All by Myself." It didn't make as much as "Madea Goes to Jail," but that can be chalked up to not having Madea's name in the title of the film.

"9" did better than expected, beating out both "Whiteout" and "Sorority Row." Those films did terrible. Three other films from previous weekends beat them out. The terrible reviews didn't help them, but more likely the terrible films truly screwed them.

Next week we have a romance movie, a kid flick and a horror film with Megan Fox. Who will take the weekend?

Movies coming out this week!

9 - When 9 (voice of Elijah Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world where all humans are gone. I Can Do Bad All by Myself - Madea (Perry) delivers three young adults who tried to rob her home to their aunt (Henson), a hard-living nightclub singer who doesn't want the responsibility of parenting the trio. Can Madea's influence, coupled with the arrival a handsome, industrious new tenant (Rodriguez), help April turn a corner in her life?

2 All About Steve$11.2 M

3 Inglorious Basterds $10.8 M

4 Gamer $9.0 M

5 District 9 $7.0 M

6 Halloween II $5.6 M

8 G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra $5.1 M

9 The Time Traveler's Wife $4.2 M

10 Extract $4.1 M

This is so far the worst weekend of the year. Movie theaters must have been empty.

"Final Destination" becomes the fifth film this year to remain No. 1 for two weeks in a row and that is only because of the extra money made from the 3-D.

"All About Steve" did fair, but word of mouth should have that film dropping next weekend like a stone. And "Extract" just...man, you have to feel bad for Mike Judge.

And "Gamer." What happened there? Man, this entire weekend was just a mess. Only "Inglourious Basterds" is still doing well from the time it was released is because it is actually a very good movie (but so is "District 9," which is hanging in there longer than "Halloween II").

Next weekend has few more films coming out with "Nine" hitting theaters on Wednesday. That might give it a profit boost.

New '9' Clip

Shane Acker's post-apocalyptic ragdoll adventure "9" already has a lot of buzz surrounding it, thanks to the involvement of producers Tim Burton ("Alice in Wonderland") and Timur Bekmambetov ("Wanted"), but this clip is only further proof that it's something you don't want to miss.

Featuring the voices of Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, John C. Reilly, Crispin Glover, Martin Landau and Christopher Plummer, "9" tells the story of a group of animated ragdoll-like creatures joined together on a quest in a world ravaged by war between humans and machines. You can get a peek at that world in the following exclusive clip:

"9" will hit theaters on 9-9-09.

French '9' Trailer Is Best so Far

The French trailer for Shane Acker's "9" is the best one yet because it actually reveals some of the plot of the film. Thankfully, it is in English for those of us who don't understand French.

Plus d'infos sur ce film

Hopefully you now have a better understanding of what this film is about. One thing to look at are the amazing visuals. The CGI for this film is on par with Pixar films.

New '9' Clip

This latest clip from Shane Acker's "9" shows the living rag dolls fighting another monster created from everyday household items. The action is amazing in this clip as well as the visuals of a post apocalyptic world where these dolls are the last remnants of life.

This film is going to be dark enough to earn a PG-13 rating and will hopefully answer questions as to what happened to all the people and what is the purpose of the dolls.

New 9 Trailer

G4 has the exclusive new trailer for "9," the animated feature directed by Shane Acker and starring Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, John C. Reilly and Crispin Glover. Crispin Glover? I'm there.

"9" is a feature-length expansion of Mr. Acker’s short film of the same name. The action-packed tale takes place in a world parallel to our own, in which the very legacy of humanity is threatened. A community of fully mobile rag dolls living a post-apocalyptic existence find one of their own, 9 (Wood), displaying leadership qualities that may help them to survive. The conflicted but resilient community includes 1 (Plummer), a domineering war veteran; 2 (Landau), an aged inventor; 5 (Reilly), a stalwart mechanic; 6 (Glover), a visionary and artist; and 7 (Connelly), a brave warrior.

Check out the trailer below.

The trailer looks cool and throws us a lot of cool action sequences. The story sounds unique, but I feel as if the film will wind up being short. Extending a 10-minute short to a feature-length film can be difficult and I'm pretty sure the movie will wind up being short too (i read somewhere it is only 75 minutes long).

9

"9" is an animated short made by Shane Acker in 2005 that was nominated for an Oscar. Now the short is being made into a full movie and will have a limited release on Sept. 9, 2009 (9/9/09).

“9” follows nine ragdolls on a quest to save humanity in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

The movie features the voice talents of Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, John C. Reilly, Crispin Glover, Martin Landau and Christopher Plummer.

Watch the original animated short, the trailer and an exclusive clip of the film below.

Not sure how the ragdolls are supposed to save humanity or why there are strange creatures out in the world trying to steal the souls of the ragdolls, but there seems to be a lot of action in the trailer for the movie.
