Bloody Disgusting is reporting that "Lost Boys 3: The Thirst" is ready to begin filming this November in South Africa with Dario Piana directing and Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander starring. The plot goes as follows:
"When veteran vampire hunter Edgar Frog finds himself destitute and almost friendless, he thinks his live has hit bottom – but wealthy vampire-romance novelist Gwen Liebling offers him a small fortune to go on the vampire hunt of a lifetime and rescue her son Peter from the Alpha Vampire D.J.Dusk. With the help of his friends Zoe, Lars and Blake, Edgar heads into a bloody battle to exterminate evil."
The first "Lost Boys" is a decent vampire flick that will always live in the 80's. I haven't seen "Lost Boys 2: The Tribe" due to hearing mixed reviews. I probably will wind up watching it someday as will I on this third film too.
The film is another Warner Premiere title, which means you will be looking for it on DVD and Blu-ray, not in theaters.
More news to come! Catch ya' later!

Movie News Mash 8

"Lost Boys 3"
Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that "Lost Boys 3" is getting made.
Corey Feldman has come on to executive produce and will also return once again as Edgar Frog. On top of that Moviehole reports Jamison Newlander has also been cast and will return as Alan Frog. Newlander had been cast in "Lost Boys: The Tribe," but his scenes were apparently cut which means this will mark the official Frog brothers reunion.
Evan Charnov (”Fearless”) has been hired to write the new film for the Warner Premiere direct-to-DVD feature.
Bloody-Disgusting adds Corey Haim’s return as Sam Emerson “is highly, highly unlikely at this point in time” and the new film will focus on Feldman’s character.
I have only seen the first film and thought it was an okay vampire film though it is extremely dated but gives a nostalgic feeling of the eighties. I haven't seen "The Tribe," but I have heard bad things. I will wind up seeing it someday anyway. This third one will be going straight to DVD for all the Frog brother fans.

"The Expendables"
This film has a stellar cast that includes Sylvester Stallone (who’s also writing and directing the film), we have Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Randy Couture, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Arnold Schwarzenegger (if only in a cameo appearance) Eric Roberts, Danny Trejo, Forest Whitaker and Charisma Carpenter.
The film has been given a release date of April 23, 2010.
But news has come up that the film may be pushed back a month because Whitaker is not going to be in the movie because of a scheduling conflict. Instead, the news from AICN is that 50 Cent (aka Curtis Jackson) will be replacing the Oscar-winning actor.
My opinion, bad choice.

"Blacklight"
This is the beginning of a new way to envision the term multi-media. "Blacklight" is being developed by Fox Atomic, Union Entertainment and game-developer Zombie Studios. The central story involves a special-ops squad sent to a war-torn region in the near future where, of course, things hit the fan.
The interesting part of all this is that from the get-go this project is being made into a movie, comic and video game. Usually a movie is made and then other products later, but this is a whole new way to have everything set up from the beginning.
According to Screen Rant, "'Blacklight' is looking to do away with the old trend by bringing all parties to the table at the onset, working in unision to conceive and develop the project. So far the word is that Fox Atomic is moving ahead with the 'Blacklight' feature film, hiring screenwriter Jason Dean Hall to both handle the script, as well as the over-arching “world concept” of the 'Blacklight' continuim.
Zombie studios, which is responsible for the 'Blacklight' video game, is currently trying to leverage the movie deal with Fox Atomic into a publishing deal for the game. Union Entertainment, which specializes in developing and producing movie/comic/video game projects, is keeping all parties coordinated while also handling some of the production duties on the movie and game aspects of the project.
No word yet on how far along (or not) the 'Blacklight' comic book is into development, who will publish it, or what it will entail. I’m sure we’ll get those details as soon as the developers think them up."
I do think that "The Matrix" kind of had this deal with "Matrix Reloaded" and the game "Enter the Matrix," since they were made together. So I don't really see this as the 'first' time being done.

Just seen old flicks
There are some movies out there that I have never seen that I have always wanted to.
I just needed to find the time. In the past week I was able to watch 2 of these 'want to see films.'
Seven - Came out in 1995 and is still good today. Gory but not gory at the same time, the story will compel you to watch until the very end. Two cops, Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt, go after a serial killer who kills based on the seven deadly sins. When you finish the movie you will find yourself sitting down and contemplating what you just saw. 8.7/10
The Lost Boys - Came out in 1987, before I was born, so that is my main excuse for not seeing it until now. I heard that this film had to be seen if one liked movies. I don't understand why that is. The film is a genre I like to call a 80's flick. It has music, fashion, and fads of the 1980's. In the end it was a decent vampire movie that had some twists and some funny acting, but it just felt so old school. It is a good movie, but it is entirely out of date. It is a great movie to sit down and watch with the parents (any little siblings might get scared by the vampire faces), but after that you will probably not want to watch it again, and that is only because it is not the 80's anymore. Unless you like cult movies....then you will probably watch it again for the cult joy. 7.7/10
I will end up watching more older films that I have yet to see. I think I should make a list or something. My main emphasis on this blog though is to talk about upcoming movies. The past has some well-made films, so i just can't ignore them.
