David Goyer Says 'Magneto' Might Not Happen

Last month, producer Lauren Shuler Donner said that the David Goyer-penned script for "X-Men Origins: Magneto" was "brilliant," but the chances of the movie actually making it to theaters are slim. Certainly, it's on the lowest rung of an "X-Men" ladder that already consists of a "Wolverine" sequel, a "Deadpool" solo movie and "X-Men: First Class."

David Goyer, who reworked Sheldon Turner's screenplay for the film and is set to direct, has spoken about the project to MTV News and echoes Donner's views.

"I tend to agree with her," he said. "[Fox is] still trying to figure out what they want to do, whether or not they'll do a different 'X-Men' movie next or another 'Wolverine' movie next. If they want to make 'Magneto,' that's awesome.

"In the meantime, I'm just going to move on with my other projects."

These other projects include a wealth of work, including: "Ghost Rider 2," a potential third "Batman" movie and his newly created show on ABC, "FlashForward."

He added: "Even taking 'FlashForward' aside, I'm booked up for another year and a half. I have no complaints."

I was always skeptical of a Magneto origins film, thinking it wouldn’t be as bankable as many projects touted, but a fan-made trailer on YouTube (using "X-Men" trilogy scenes and "Star Trek" music) does make it seem pretty epic. That being said, a lot of that awesomeness comes from the music.

The only issue here is that it presents Magneto when he’s older and we know the origin film would have to be about him when he’s young, learning his powers, defining his beliefs, working with professor X to start the school, build cerebro, etc. This is a story I hope and think will be explored as part of "X-Men: First Class" and would work perfect having Magneto working alongside Professor X as a teacher before they separate paths. Not too mention how well that would tie into the Bryan Singer’s first "X-Men" movie.

What do you think of this trailer and would you still like to see Magneto’s origins on the big screen?

Producer Updates on 'X-Men' Franchise

In an interview with Empire Online, producer Lauren Shuler Donner has shed further light on upcoming films in the "X-Men" franchise.

Although the interview doesn't give us any more detail on the "X-Men 4" and "New Mutants" projects that Donner had previously mentioned, it does talk about "Wolverine 2," "X-Men Origins: Magneto," "X-Men: First Class" and "Deadpool."

As teased at the end of "Wolverine" and widely rumored directly after its release, "Wolverine 2" will take place in Japan as Logan learns to control some of his more beast-like tendencies. It is the furthest along of all the possible "X-Men" films and will actual be made in Japan.

Says Donner:
"It's actually the story we wanted to use for the first Wolverine film, but [Fox head honcho] Tom Rothman preferred to set the character up with an origin story first. This movie will really focus on the relationship between Wolverine and Mariko, the daughter of a Japanese crime lord, and what happens to him in Japan. We're very fortunate to have a story mostly outlined for us [from the comic book arc co-written by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller]. And we wanted an A+ writer, so we want to Chris McQuarrie (Valkyrie, The Usual Suspects). He came in and has tightened the story and got really immersed in the whole thing - he's in Japan in his head!

What's cool about this part of the saga is that Wolverine will be fighting in a different style to what we've seen before. Mariko's father has this stick-like weapon, so Wolverine will have to fight against that. There'll be samurai, ninja, katana blades, different forms of martial arts - mano-a-mano, extreme fighting. We're going to come up with a new style of fighting. It's going to be awesome."

Deadpool was pretty disrespected in "Wolverine," but the good news is that the solo-"Deadpool" flick starring Ryan Reynolds will be a re-launch of the character's mojo. As in: breaking the fourth wall and starting over without having his mouth sewn shut.

Says Donner:
"We're right in the thick of talking to writers right now, and hopefully by November we'll have decided who's going to do it. We need someone really imaginative because we want to do some really innovative, ambitious stuff. Ryan's mentioned this in an interview already but there are parts where he's going to break the fourth wall and talk directly to the audience in the cinema. We have to work out how to do that. I don't know that Fox will agree with all our decisions, but we'll see!"

"X-Men: First Class" is teased at the end of "Wolverine" when Professor X makes a cameo, and according to Donnor will be the X-Men Universe by the way of "Harry Potter." As in: lots of hormone-charged kids with superpowers fighting evil and each other.

Says Donner: "Right now the script is not done -we're not where we want to be yet. We have to be careful that we don't tread on familiar territory, that people don't say, 'Oh, I've seen that, been there.' But (screenwriter) Josh Schwartz has a great young pulse and he's doing an amazing job bringing the characters to life. We want to make this a franchise, following these kids at the school, so the casting of the child actors will be all-important."

At first it looked like "Magneto" would launch a series of "Origins" stories, but Wolverine and Hugh Jackman proved to be a better vehicle for fan service. Now, "Magneto" is at the end of the line out of all the possible "X-Men" films.

Says Donner:
"David Goyer has written a brilliant script. It starts in the concentration camps and has Magneto coming out of there. But you know, I'm not sure that film is going to be made. The studio has a wealth of potential stories, and they have to stand back and decide which ones to make. And Magneto, I think, is at the back of the queue. Maybe it'll get made in five years - who knows?"

What are your thoughts on "Wolverine 2" going full steam ahead while "Magneto" is on the backburner? Are the "Deadpool" and "First Class" plans to your liking?

Ian McKellen Gives Updates on 'The Hobbit' & 'Magneto'

Among the many X-Men projects waiting for the green light at 20th Century Fox is a prequel filling in the backstory of the archvillain Magneto.

But Ian McKellen, who played the magnetically-powered baddie in the previous "X-Men" movies, admits he hasn't been sent the script yet.

As it's a prequel about the character's younger years, he would more than likely have only a voiceover role and perhaps 'book-end' the story with cameo appearances.

Speaking to Empire at the San Sebastian Film Festival, Sir Ian said: "There's meant to be a Magneto script floating around, but I've not read it, so I suspect it wouldn't involve me - I think it would be about the younger Magneto, and the most I could hope for would be to top and tail that."

He added: "They can't have someone whose face is as lined as mine any longer!"

He believes they won't be able to digitally de-age him as they did with Patrick Stewart's cameo as a younger version of Xavier in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

Ian laughed: "Ooh, he was very pleased with himself that he was going in to be in Wolverine - it was only an hour's work. We were working on Waiting For Godot at the time"
He also talked about his return as Gandalf in "The Hobbit" two-part film project to be directed by Guillermo del Toro and produced by Peter Jackson.

"The scripts for the two films will be delivered very soon," he revealed. "Then they'll be budgeted, and then they'll be cast. And they'll be going when they've always said they would be, which is next spring - March or April.

"Guillermo even told me at one point, 'We're going to film for 383 days.' He's got that artistic autism! Jackson's the same; they're very, very, very alike. They also very different, but they've so much in common. They both can't stand Hollywood and have wonderful imaginations, and they're both obsessed with gore and fantasy. Both of them laugh a great deal. Guillermo's one of the most brilliant men I've ever met. His English vocabulary is way superior to mine!"

There's been speculation about the possible return of other "Lord of the Rings" cast members, including Legolas and Aragorn, but Sir Ian isn't convinced: "Unforunately, there won't be many of the actors going back unless they're going to put masks on and be disguised as dwarves! Andy Serkis is, at the moment, I think, the only other actor who's doing this film."
As much as I like McKellen as Magneto - and am looking forward to a standalone film involving the character (there’s some real potential there) - I have to admit I’m much more looking forward to him returning as Gandalf in "The Hobbit." Maybe it’s because his role is guaranteed to be huge, as opposed to (at most) a cameo in a solo Magneto flick… not unless they use CGI to make him look REALLY young.

Should McKellen be involved in "X-Men Origins: Magneto" in some capacity, or would you rather see the movie feature a different actor as the Master of Magnetism? Are you disappointed that we apparently won’t be seeing many of the "LOTR" actors make appearances in "The Hobbit"?

Part 1 of "The Hobbit" is set to hit theaters in December, 2011, with Part 2 following a year later in December, 2012.

"X-Men Origins: Magneto" has a tentative release date of 2011, but nothing official has been confirmed yet.

David Goyer on 'Ghost Rider 2' and 'Magneto'

Writer, producer and director David Goyer recently sat down with Collider to talk about his new television series "FlashForward." The show has become a hit and is doing well for now. But then questions veered off to the silver screen about the recently announced sequel to "Ghost Rider" and the "X-Men" spin-off "Magneto."

What is interesting is that Goyer wrote a script for "Ghost Rider" nine years ago and it looks like that original story might become the plot for "Ghost Rider 2." Funny how things happen like that.

Watch the interview below!

David Goyer on 'Magneto' and 'Blade'

Hugh Jackman has been teasing at the story for "Wolverine 2" and Christopher McQuarrie has been brought on board to write the screenplay. But where does that leave the other future X-Men projects?

"X-Men Origins: Magneto," "X-Men: First Class" and "Deadpool" are the other planned movies hovering on standby. There's also been talk - though nothing official - of spin-offs for Storm and Gambit.

"Deadpool" has neither a writer nor a director - and star Ryan Reynolds is now over at Warner Bros to play "Green Lantern" so his involvement is not 100 percent guaranteed.

"First Class" has a writer ("Gossip Girl" and "The O.C." creator Josh Schwartz) but no director, though Bryan Singer has 'flirted' with the idea of taking the reins.

"Magneto" has a screenplay. It was penned by Sheldon Turner and then reworked by David Goyer, who is set to direct.

Goyer has now given an update on the origin film of the mutant archvillain, played in the previous X-movies by Ian McKellen.

He told MTV News: "They're still thinking about doing it. They're definitely looking into doing other X-Men spinoffs."

The filmmaker felt confident the movie would pick up speed shortly: "I've been in touch with them. I'm sure that project will move forward in the next year or so."
Goyer wrote all three "Blade" movies, produced the first two and directed the poorly-received third movie, "Blade: Trinity." He also developed, wrote and produced the Blade TV series.

Of a further Blade film, he said: "It's been rumored over at New Line" and admitted there had been "murmurings."

But he indicated it would be a reboot, adding: "I think when you revisit these characters, the question is, how long should they stay off the shelf?

"When we did 'Batman Begins,' he'd been off the shelf for about eight years. It hasn't been eight years yet for Blade. I think usually if you give them a little breathing room between iterations, it's better."

So, "Blade 4" sounds much further away than "Magneto." The real question is whether Goyer has time to take on the master of magnetism, because of his many other commitments, including "Green Arrow: Escape from Super Max," TV series "Flash Forward" and the much-anticipated "Batman 3."

Do you think Goyer will make time in his schedule to direct "X-Men Origins: Magneto"? And do you want to see another "Blade" movie?

What's Next for 'X-Men'?

The "X-men" franchise continues to move ahead, with several spin-offs planned following "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" which, despite poor reviews, has managed to pull in $357million worldwide so far.

A second "Wolverine" movie and a "Deadpool" spin-off have been confirmed as being in development while talks are also under way on a "Gambit" spin-off.

Also in the pipeline are "X-Men: First Class," about the early years of Xavier's school and set to feature young versions of Cyclops, Storm, Beast, Jean Grey and others; and "X-Men Origins: Magneto," showing the events that shaped the mutant archvillain played in the "X-Men" movies by Ian McKellen.

But which will be next?

David Goyer, who wrote the "Magneto" screenplay and was at one point attached to direct it, explained what was going on behind closed doors at 20th Century Fox.

He told Superhero Hype there had been "some preliminary discussions" about Magneto, although he did not confirm the status of his involvement with the project.

He added: "I think, at Fox, they're trying to decide if making a young X-Men film makes the most sense next [or] does Magneto make the most sense next. They're just trying to decide internally who's next up."

The end of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" certainly pointed towards "X-Men: First Class," but moving straight into that project omits Xavier's prior history with Magneto and leaps over the events that led to the establishment of the school.

I think the answer is to push forward with "X-Men Origins: Magneto" and "X-Men: First Class" almost simultaneously or with a maximum of one year apart. Why must we have three-year gaps between the X-Men movies?

And the studio should get Bryan Singer back, at least to executive-produce these films if he doesn't want to direct. Singer will notice all the details and potential continuity glitches that filmmakers less experienced with the franchise might overlook.

With a screenplay ready on "Magneto," it does seem the obvious choice to move forward first, once a director has been confirmed.

"X-Men: First Class," whose script was penned by "Gossip Girl" creator Josh Schwartz and recently reworked to tie in with what was seen in Wolverine, should follow closely behind.

The confirmed "Wolverine" sequel and "Deadpool" spin-off, along with the more nebulous and as-yet-unconfirmed "Gambit" film, do not yet have a script so they are unable to proceed at present anyway.

What "X-Men" film do you think should come next?

Magneto Is Coming

According to The Geek Files, "The roaring debut of 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' has been the launchpad for several other spin-offs getting the green light.

We've heard about a second Wolverine film, a Deadpool movie and a Gambit spin-off. And it now seems there is new movement on 'X-Men Origins: Magneto,' a project that would explore the backstory of the magnetically-powered archvillain played in the X-Men trilogy by Ian McKellen.

Sources are now saying that James McTeigue is in negotiations to direct the movie, instead of David S. Goyer. And Internet Movie Database confirms this, with its listing for McTeigue saying he is in talks to take on Magneto. "

McTeigue was just announced as a possible director for the "Conan" remake and now for "Magneto" as well. It will be interesting is which film he decides to make unless he can do both.

Sheldon Turner wrote the original screenplay for the "Magneto" film and when Goyer came on board he reworked it. He was also set to direct but has several other film projects o his plate including a movie sequel to H.G. Wells' "The Invisible Man." Fox then began looking for other directors to get started on "Magneto."

X-Men: Magneto and First Class

Producer Lauren Shuler Donner admitted 20th Century Fox had channeled all its energies into "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and hadn't decided which project would proceed next. She added that the success of the "Wolverine movie" would be a factor in whether the franchise continued.

In an interview with Sci Fi Wire, Donner did give some new clues on the possibilities, which include "X-Men Origins: Magneto," about the backstory of the mutant villain played by Ian Mckellen; and "X-Men: First Class," about the earliest students at Xavier's school.

"We have a great [Magneto] script," she said. "Honestly, we have all been just so focused on getting Wolverine out that we didn't take the time to sit down and explore what movies we're going to do next within the genre. We will do that. Magneto is a fantastic script, and hopefully we'll make it.

"And then we have First Class, which is based on the X-Men comic First Class and is very literal to the title: it's the first class in Xavier's school. But that's just being written. I haven't even seen a first draft.

"I'm producing that with [X-Men: The Last Stand co-writer] Simon Kinberg. There seems, to me, to be more humour, or more potential for humor. I really like that idea. I don't want to get into what the script is about, but it provides a bit of a lighter touch to the franchise."

Fox found itself so wrapped up in "Wolverine" that it hasn't focused on its next projects, but with success in the bag for the film ("Wolverine" is currently outselling pre-sale tickets from last year's "Iron Man" 3-to-1) I'm sure more news for "Magneto" and "First Class will be coming out during the summer.

Donner is also involved in producing a sequel to "Constantine." Warner Bros released the first film in 2005, with Keanu Reeves in the title role as occult investigator John Constantine. It was based on the Hellblazer comic book published by DC Comics' Vertigo imprint.

Donner said a writer was being sought for "Constantine 2." Last year, prior to the release of the remake of "The Day The Earth Stood Still," Keanu Reeves indicated that he would be prepared to appear in a follow-up when he told Moviesonline: "I wouldn't mind doing another Constantine."

I enjoyed the first "Constantine" and wouldn't mind seeing another one. I may be biased with Keanu Reeves since I am one of the biggest "Matrix" fans out there.

Wait For Magneto

In an interview with SuperHero Hype, director of the "X-men" spin-off "X-Men Origins: Magneto," David Goyer said that the release date of "Magneto" would decide on the how "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" does in theaters this May.

"I think they like the script and they're just waiting to see what happens with 'Wolverine,'" Goyer said in the interview. "I don't think they would consider moving forward until the movie comes out."

According to MTV News, "According to the official plot synopsis for 'X-Men Origins: Magneto,' the film explores the World War II time period in which Eric Lensherr (who later becomes Magneto) is a prisoner of a concentration camp and discovers his mutant abilities — a period which was briefly touched upon in the first 'X-Men' movie. Charles Xavier (Professor X) will also factor into the story, and the meeting between Xavier and Lensherr, their subsequent friendship and eventual parting of ways is detailed in the film.

Naturally, young versions of each character would be required for the film, but no casting has been announced thus far."

Magneto Is Coming Soon

Rope of Silicon reported an interview with Lauren Schuler Donner, who has produced such films as "Free Willy," "X-Men," "X-Men 2,""Constantine" and "X-Men: The Last Stand."

The interview was hosted by IndieLondon and focused on two of her upcoming movies, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and "X-Men Origins: Magneto."

Wolverine hits theaters next May and Donner says, “It’s good… it’s very good. I’m very pleased with it. It’s very much an origins story. It’s very much in the tone of the first X-Men.”

Donner has a lot of films under her producer helm, but she says she really wants to get started on Magneto soon. “We have a great script on Magneto. I’ll tell you the honest truth… I’ve made four movie this year and I was so busy that I didn’t at all talk to the studio while making Magneto because I couldn’t have done it. And David Goyer, who wrote and is going to direct it, also did another movie. So now, he’s done with his and I’m done with two of mine, so when I get back that’s my first order of business to say: ‘Come on, let’s go and make Magneto.’”

According to Rope of Silicon, "The upcoming Goyer film she mentions is the January 9 release The Unborn... For Goyer a film the size of Magneto would be a big boost as he has for so long been behind the writing of so many superhero films including The Dark Knight, Batman Begins and the Blade franchise that the Magneto film would be a great opportunity to re-introduce himself as a superhero director to the fans that disliked Blade: Trinity."

Wolverine and Deadpool

According to MTV News, "Former 20th Century Fox Studio Exec Jeff Katz (who had returned from the set of 'Wolverine' just a few months ago) offered up his own thoughts about the potential for a 'Deadpool' movie — as well as what you can expect to see in 'Wolverine,' bub.

'The film nicely tees [Deadpool] off for his own spin-off film,' said Katz, who raved about Ryan Reynolds‘ portrayal of the wise-cracking mercenary. In Marvel’s comic book universe, Wade Wilson (a.k.a. Deadpool) is a product of the same “Weapon X” experiments that Wolverine was subjected to by the Canadian government, but the experiments left him disfigured and mentally unstable.

Katz’ comments seemed to reiterate those of Fox Chairman Tom Rothman, who previously addressed the possibility of a 'Deadpool' spin-off and commented on the tone of 'Wolverine.' According to Katz, 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' is “certainly the most violent” of the X-Men movies thus far, with a darker tone and significantly more action than its predecessors.

Of course, before 'Deadpool' gets the go-ahead, there’s still another X-Men character likely to take a solo turn on the big screens: Magneto."

I still can't wait for "Wolverine" and "Magneto" to come out, but a "Deadpool" film would be awesome.

X-Men: First Class

According to Variety, "Twentieth Century Fox is gearing up to continue its "X-Men" franchise with a younger set of mutants.

Studio has tapped 'Gossip Girl' creator Josh Schwartz to write 'X-Men: First Class.'

Schwartz, the creator and exec producer of CW's teen sudser hit as well as Fox's youth-centric 'The OC' and NBC's 'Chuck,' is expected to inject a next-gen sensibility into the superhero series, which has earned $1.2 billion worldwide.

Writing assignment has also included the possibility of directing the pic, but so far Schwartz has opted not to take the helm.

Lauren Shuler Donner, who produced all three 'X-Men' pics, as well as next summer's 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine,' is producing 'First Class' alongside 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' scribe Simon Kinberg.

Fox is keeping quiet on plans and declined to confirm details of the project. The studio has been considering ways to continue its successful series of 'X-Men' movies after the third installment, the Brett Ratner-helmed 'X-Men: The Last Stand,' collected $459 million in 2006.

Fox has been leaning toward using the younger characters introduced in the previous pics in future installments -- teenagers with powers taught at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning."

Latino Review notes that "since its dismal summer at the box office, Fox has placed renewed attention on its 'X-Men' franchise. The studio, which is actively developing a standalone 'Magneto' pic, also is considering creating a 'Deadpool' spinoff, based on a character played by Ryan Reynolds in 'Wolverine.'"

Fox is keeping quiet on its plans and declined to confirm details of the project to any of the sources I have checked out. But I read an interesting bit on what characters might be in the film.

According to The Geek Files, "Over 40 years ago, the world was introduced to a team of mutant superheroes that would change the world forever - the 'X-Men.' Today, they are battle-hardened superheroes who have saved the world many times over. But originally they started out as students at the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters.

'First Class' would likely draw from elements of the Marvel comic of the same name, launched in 2006. The film would feature such characters as Iceman, Rogue, Angel, Colossus, Jubilee and Shadowcat, which contradicts the comic book line-up and the official synopsis as well as fans' understanding that it would focus on the early years of Xavier's school with younger versions of Cyclops, Beast, Jean Grey, Storm and other mutants."

X-Men Origins: Magneto

A look at the early life of Eric Lensherr and his friendship with Charles Xavier, and how the one-time allies became mortal enemies.

That is the plot synopsis of X-Men Origins: Magneto, according to its IMDB site.

The movie is in development and is going to be directed by David Goyer, who also helped write the screenplay.

According to The Geek Files, "The film is about the backstory of the metal-controlling mutant, who was played by Sir Ian McKellen in the three X-Men movies. McKellen is the only cast member listed for the movie and is expected to 'book-end' the movie with voiceover narration and perhaps a cameo appearance.

Despite the digital de-ageing of his character by 25 years at the start of X-Men: The Last Stand, the studio would want a younger star for the main role of Jewish mutant Erik Lehnsherr who survives Auschwitz concentration camp and becomes the archvillain in later years after bitterness and tragedy shapes his destiny."

A synopsis for the film has also been released.

"The original X-Men film began with a prologue that showed the character as a child being led to a concentration camp by Nazis and that is the period in which the Magneto film will take place. This setup will allow a future villain to at least flirt with the designation of protagonist since the character will be seen almost exclusively in his formative years.
The storyline will heavily involve Professor X, the wheelchair-using X-Men leader. That character was a soldier in the allied force that liberated the concentration camps. The professor meets Magneto after the war and while they bond over the realisation that they are alike in their special powers, their differences soon turn them into enemies."

Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman said that Fox is focusing on Wolverine Origins right now since it comes out next May. Any further news on future X-Men or Fantastic Four films will have to wait until after that. Rothman also said he is interested in making a Silver Surfer spin-off film, a character introduced in the Fantastic Four sequel from 2007. This would have to happen before 2012, when the rights for those characters go back to Marvel.

I personally can't wait for the rights of X-Men and the Fantastic Four (and Spider-Man someday) to all go back to Marvel so there can be even more cross-overs.
Imagine a movie with every Marvel hero that has his/her own movie so far.
A team-up of Blade, Punisher, Daredevil, Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Hulk, Ghostrider, and Iron Man (include other Avengers as they are made). A comic geeks dream come true...*sigh*.

Wolverine movie is dark and will kick a**

ComingSoon.net caught up with Lauren Shuler Donner, the producer for the upcoming Wolverine film.

"I guess [Wolverine] is closer to the first X-Men in tone because it's a little darker, but there's a lot of action. It's his origin story. It's really good. I've been in the editing room the last couple of weeks and I think that it's good and that audiences are going to like it. But it's a little darker."

Rumor alert! Lauren Shuler Donner says that she hopes that one of the film's characters, Wade Wilson aka Deadpool, will get his own spin-off. Wilson is played by Ryan Reynolds.

She also noted that the now-obligatory Stan Lee cameo in Marvel films might not happen in “Wolverine,” given that the film was shot in Australia, but adds that they might be able to add him in since some additional shooting will be taking place stateside in January.

The Geek Files made a note about Donner's interview.
"After all that, we aren't much further forward. No clue on running time or rating, no question or response on criticisms of Fox's superhero projects or its film-making in general. No information on whether Wolverine has a costume, nothing on the Cyclops cameo, or on whether Gambit and Emma Frost are intended to then feature in the X-Men First Class movie focusing on the early years of Professor Xavier's school. No answer on whether the First Class movie or Magneto movie are proceeding."

X-Men 4

With the coming of spin-off films such as Wolverine Origins and Magneto, X-Men 4 looks like it won't really take off.
X-Men 3 was a huge success. It was the seventh highest grossing film of 2006and left it open for a continuation.
The Geek Files, over at the Coventry Telegraph, has more news on the subject.
"While Fox is working on several prequel spin-offs - Wolverine comes out next May, Magneto is in development, and a young X-Men film is under consideration - there has been no official announcement of a direct continuation of the series. But the voices of fans are growing louder and stronger in their calls for more X-Men movies."
Brett Ratner, the director of the third X-Men, was heard to say there will be no fourth film. After mixed reviews over X-Men 3, there will be little chance he will have say in the matter since he will not be back on the project.
Iceman actor Shawn Ashmore told horror site ShockTillYouDrop: "I would love to do another film, but I think they're doing these spin-offs and origin stories, so I can't see in the near future there being an X-Men 4 but I have no idea to tell you the truth, it's really hard to say. I'm holding my breath, waiting for it to happen, but I'm not sure if it will or not. I love the fact that there is such a huge audience for the X-Men, characters I love and characters I've lived with so long that it's really exciting when people are like, 'Aw, man, I want to see another one.' That's great, and that gives me a boost to hear that stuff, so that's really cool."

I would so see this.
