'Solomon Kane' Trailer

An official trailer for Michael Bassett's "Solomon Kane" that stars James Purefoy ("Rome," "The Philanthropist") has finally debuted online today. While this is showing at the Toronto Film Festival it probably won't hit theaters in the US sometime until 2010. The film looks like a darker, more refined version of "Van Helsing," with some "Lord of the Rings" fantasy elements.

A 16th century Puritan, Solomon Kane is a somber-looking man who wanders the world with no apparent goal other than to vanquish evil in all its forms. His adventures, published mostly in the pulp magazine Weird Tales, often take him from Europe to the jungles of Africa and back. The character is based on the books by author Robert E. Howard ("Conan").

This film is the first of a proposed trilogy so hopefully it does well in the box office so we can see more Kane on his adventures around the world.

More news to come! Catch ya' later!

DUDE!! This looks awesome! There's not a set release date yet-just the year? This is a must-see for me...

Yeah, it has no distributor yet, so no set date of release.

The film is being shown at film festivals (right now in Toronto) so maybe a studio will see it and want to distribute it.

We can only wait and see.
