Edgar Wright Still Working On 'Ant-Man'

Filmmaker Edgar Wright has his hands busy with “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World,” but the director already has another comic book movie in mind. His name has been frequently linked to “Ant-Man,” a film based on one of Marvel Comics’ more obscure heroes.

Although “Pilgrim” has prevented him from diving into the project anytime soon, Wright’s interest in “Ant-Man” has not faded. The director spoke with Omelete about the superhero film, saying that he’ll revisit the character once his work on “Scott Pilgrim” has finished.

“‘Ant-Man’ is something I need to return to,” Wright said. “I wrote a draft before ‘Scott Pilgrim’ started and it’s kind [of] on back burner slightly just because I’ve been busy with this. But it’s something that I have got to return to. I have to do another draft after ‘Scott Pilgrim’ is done.”

As far as that first draft goes, Wright said that he’s pretty satisfied with his work thus far and is looking forward to penning the next draft.

“When you come away from something it’s good and fun to rework what you’ve already done,” he said. “But I’m very happy with the first draft and we need to get back into business.”

Wright might want to get back on the “Ant-Man” train soon as Marvel continues to align the stars for “The Avengers,” the promised superhero team-up that features Thor, Iron Man and Captain America. Ant-Man was a founding member of the team in the comics and has long been speculated for a role in the Marvel blockbuster. At this rate, however, the character’s solo debut might wait until after his potential premiere in “The Avengers.”

Ant-Man beats his wife, Wasp. Also, I think he's a drunk. And his favorite movie is Willard.

This guy shouldn't have his own movie.

That pretty much is Ant-Man (who also becomes Giant Man but changes his name to Yellow Jacket).

But Iron Man is also a drunk.

Stark is a lovable drunk...

That's different.

Ha! A lovable drunk. That is true.

Except for the Demon in the Bottle storyline. I do believe in the comics after that he stopped drinking.

But Ant-Man has had many psychotic breakdowns in the comic series, so it will be interesting to see i they can put those mature themes into a superhero film (especially about the good guy).
