Fans were treated to "Iron Man 2" at this years Comic-Con where most of the film's lead actors and director Jon Favreau introduced a new character in the film.
War Machine.
The counterpart to the Iron Man armor was revealed at the end of a montage that offered new footage of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Whiplash (Mickey Rourke), Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and James Rhodes (Don Cheadle). Oh, and War Machine, too
"We wanted to use Comic-Con as our venue to have the first images of War Machine come out," Favreau told MTV News. "There's been talk of whether it was [in the film] or not, and we've been holding back. We haven't talked officially about it. We wanted to show the fans some of that."
In the War Machine scene, arms dealer Justin Hammer offers to sell Tony Stark's military buddy a wide array of weapons -- and after he agrees to buy "all of them," fans were treated to a shot of the War Machine armor, complete with a massive array of weapons bristling all over it.
"War Machine is another character that's based on the Iron Man technology. James Rhodes, or 'Rhodey,' the character in this film played by Don Cheadle, he has his own suit," Favreau explained. "It looks different, different coloring, different weapons on it. War Machine and Iron Man, typically in the books, are at odds. And so, it's Iron Man facing up against someone of equal power and stature using the same technology."
