Movies my friends made me watch

Ever have a time where a friend is talking about a movie and you say,"I've never seen that." Then they stare at you for about a minute and say they want to slap you.
That has happened to me a couple of times, and this post is for my good friends who instead of slapping me made me watch movies that I probably wouldn't have seen without them making me (or it was on TV one random day).

Superbad - As two friends (plus one other pal whose name steals the show)try to hook up with their own girls during the last big party of the school year, things go wrong. I had heard of it, I just didn't see it when it came out. Then all of a sudden all of my friends were talking about it. Kind of had to see it then. I must say, it is a really funny movie with a throwback to the last days of high school (a different take on the American Pie story). Memorable characters with memorable quotes made this film worth watching and able to make jokes about it later with friends.
8.5/10 "I am Mcovin'!"

Forgetting Sarah Marshall - As Peter Bretter has a bad break-up with his girlfriend of five years, he heads to Hawaii for a break but finds her there...along with her new boyfriend. Another one that I heard of, but I just didn't go see. Apparently all my friend loved it, so again...had to see it. It is funny, but I enjoyed Superbad more. This story is of one so messed up that you can't help but laugh at, but nothing feels real. The world of Superbad is believable while Forgetting Sarah Marshall makes you laugh at its world that doesn't seem real. Maybe that is another part of its charm, but I'm more of the 'blend in with realism; kind of guy...I guess.
7.7/10 "You shall not pass!"

Con Air - A newly released ex con and former US Ranger finds himself trapped in a prisoner transport plane when the other prisoners seize control. One of those movies I hear about all the time, but just never ended up watching. When I finally did (because it apparently is a must-see for all men) I loved it. Nick Cage's accent is probably the only bad thing about this movie. The story is interesting and the action never really stops. When you think it is over...there is more! With some of the coolest death scenes in any action film, it is a must-see for men! Did I mention this film has some great acting in it? Yeah, it does!
7.3/10 "Put... the bunny... back... in the box."

Across the Universe - The music of the Beatles and the Vietnam War form the backdrop for the romance between an upper-class American girl and a poor Liverpudlian artist. I remember hearing that there was a musical that only used songs from the Beatles, but I never went out of my way to hear more about it even though I love the Beatles. Than my pals told me about this movie and I just had to see it. Besides the tripping out parts that some people don't get (the characters are on drugs people!), the movie is a straight through story about love during a time of war. Great soundtrack with a tale as old as time.
8.2/10 "Nothing's gonna change my world."

The Matrix - I must thank my friend very much who made me see this movie. I remember back in the day when to me a movie was only a movie and I went and saw whatever was on. I hadn't even heard of this movie....and then my friend said, "Watch it. It will blow your mind." It did.
A computer hacker named Neo learns from mysterious rebels about the true nature of his reality and his role in the war against the controllers of it. The story wowed me, the action wowed me, everything wowed me. After seeing this movie my world changed and I am here loving movies and talking about movie news all thanks to The Matrix. Yeah, it was that mind-bending for me, a simple youth who knew nothing about film. Mark this down as one fo the greatest and most influential films of all time. Need I say more? If you haven't seen it......then I must slap you! :]
9.1/10 "I know Kung Fu."

I find it interesting (and kinda funny) you say that FSM lacked realism when nearly all of the plot points of the movie came from Jason Segal's personal experiences - from the nude break-up to the Dracula musical.

Just so ya know, I prefer FSM to Superbad. I could watch FSM over and over and over again and not get bored.

Yeah, I knew he did that stuff (that he really wanted to do the musical was funny), but I just feel like people have gone through the experience of Superbad more than FSM.
I know it really happened to him, but it still lacks the logical realism (because that stuff is messed up, which makes it funny) while Superbad is funny because it is real.
My opinion, but I like both movies.
