Variety has confirmed that Overnight Productions has started filming on "Machete."
Danny Trejo will play the blade-wielding antihero you see in the not-safe-for-work mock trailer that was part of "Grindhouse" at the bottom of this article and will be joined by Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Seagal, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson and Jeff Fahey. Rodriguez is co-directing with protege Ethan Maniquis.
After being betrayed by the organization who hired him, an ex-Federale (Trejo) launches a brutal rampage of revenge against his former boss. The film is expected to be released in 2010.
