Rome the Movie is Happening

Movie Web had the chance to speak with actor Ray Stevenson for the DVD release of "Punisher: War Zone." Being fans of the HBO television series "Rome," they had to ask about the current status of the film being made to continue where the show left off.

"The script is in full development," Stevenson said. "As you are probably aware, this is a pretty strange process. We could go into production in a year, or it could be as quick as six months. Who knows? It will happen. At least it is no longer a rumor. From what I have heard, they are nearing the end of script development."

Stevenson went on to add how he can't wait to return as the character Titus Pullo.
"The guy is going to come in with a high body count," he said.

Stevenson said that the amount of graphic violence and sex that was seen on the show might be in the movie, but it will be up to Bruno Heller since he is writing the movie.
"I don't think anybody else could write the movie," he said. "It will be Bruno at the helm. That guy has a soft spot for Pullo and Vorenus. I don't think he will let the ball drop. I don't think he will disappoint. He never pulled his punches with the hard drama or the social status, or the action sequences. He put full honesty into the characters. I completely trust him, and I can't wait to read his script once it materializes."

Are you excited for a "Rome" movie? I personally loved the show. Though it may not be 100 percent historically accurate, it was an interesting take on the times of Julius Caesar.

More news to come! Catch ya' later!
