Black Widow

Emily Blunt ("Charlie Wilson's War")was in talks with Marvel to play Black Widow, aka Natasha Romanoff, in the upcoming sequel "Iron Man 2."

Due to scheduling conflicts with "Gulliver's Travels" with Jack Black, she might not be able to play the role.
Two other actresses are sparring for the role to play the Russian spy.

Eliza Dushku, star of Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse," spoke on air to Howard Stern about how she wants to play Black Widow and thinks she would do great.

“They’re doing ‘Iron Man 2,’ and I’m so perfect for the Black Widow character, that they just need to get into it,” said Dushku. “They need to understand… I just learned Russian because I had to play a Russian girl in ‘Dollhouse.’ Maybe we could all tell them. Lets get on a Black Widow Iron Man 2 campaign.”

Scarlett Johansson ("He's Just Not That Into You")seems to be another contender for the role of Black Widow since she has been caught speaking with Marvel.

According to Latino Review, "Because Emily Blunt's commitment to Twentieth Century Fox and the studio's upcoming 'Gulliver's Travels' movie may prohibit her from costarring in 'Iron Man 2,' Marvel is in discussions with other actresses, most significantly Scarlett Johansson, to take her place, EW has learned exclusively. Marvel will not confirm, but sources around Hollywood say Johansson has indeed met with the filmmakers and is interested in taking the role of Russian superspy Natasha Romanoff, who doubles as Black Widow. Blunt's reps are still trying to make both projects work, but 'Gulliver's' is further along, with a start date of April 15. 'Iron Man 2' still doesn't have a shooting script and a start date has not yet been determined."

Another name that has been mentioned around the Internet is Olga Kurlenko ("Quantum of Solace") since she is tough, sexy and Russian. Who better to play a sultry Russian than a...sultry Russian.
More news to come! Catch ya' later!

wow. awesome! even though I love Eliza Dushku, I think either Scarlett Johansson or Olga Kurylenko would definitely make a good Black Widow. I can't quite decide.

interesting news indeed!

Yeah, I just don't know if Johansson can pull off a Russian accent and the red hair look (that is if they go with Black Widow having red hair like in the comics).
Hmm...wonder what Olga would look like with red hair.
We will just have to wait and see who they decide to cast!
