'Heavy Metal' Adds New Directors

"Heavy Metal" is based off the magazine of the same name and off of the 1981 classic animated film. The movie will most likely be animated again and will be seprated into several different segments with each telling a different sci-fi story. David Fincher ("Curious Case of Benjamin Button") is on track to be one of the many directors associated with the movie.

Film School Rejects recently caught up with TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman and asked him if he had any updates on the new "Heavy Metal."

"I’ve got breaking news that Fincher and James Cameron are going to be Co-Executive Producers on the film," Eastman said. "Fincher will direct one. Cameron will direct one. Zack Snyder is going to direct one and Gore Verbinski is going to. Mark Osborne and Jack Black from Tenacious D are going to do a comedy segment for the film."

Fincher's plan is to get a total of 9 directors to direct different segments of the movie. It's an ambitious plan and if he did Cameron involved, then I'm truly amazed.

"Three other directors have agreed but we haven’t signed them, but they’re equally as jaw-dropping. So we’re on cloud nine to be working with such an amazing amount of talent," Eastman said.

After "Avatar" is finished it seems he might be moving on to this project and Marl Osborne ("Kung Fu Panda") teaming up again with Jack Black sounds like fun. And I can see Snyder ("Watchmen") and Verbinski ("Pirates o the Caribbean") directing segments too.

More news to come! Catch ya' later!

WOW. I'm surprised they're getting the grade-A directors for this one. Surprised...but definitely happy.

Hopefully all the directors will stick with this film and make some awesome segments.

I really like the original because it has been influential to other science fiction films.
