'Year One' Not R

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Sony's 'Year One,' the new Jack Black comedy from producer Judd Apatow and director Harold Ramis, has been rated PG-13 after the filmmakers made some cuts to the film.

The MPAA's Classification and Rating Appeals Board on Tuesday upheld the R rating originally given to the movie in which Black and Michael Cera play a couple of barely out-of-the-cave men who travel through the ancient world.

Apatow and Ramis appeared before the board to argue for a more lenient rating, but the appeals board still opted for the R, which requires moviegoers younger than 17 be accompanied by an adult, because of 'some sexual content and language.'

The filmmakers then made cuts to the film, and as a result, the ratings board has now given it a PG-13 'for crude and sexual content throughout, brief strong language and comic violence.'

Sony will release the film domestically June 19."

Since the debut of its trailer the film has received little attention online and I believe the budget of the film is somewhere over $75 million. Smacking this with an R rating would lose lots of money, so cutting it down to PG-13 is more profitable.

Don't worry though! Those of you that want to see all the raunchy jokes that were cut out can expect to see them in some form on the Unrated DVD. Always expect Unrated DVDs for comedies.

More news to come! Catch ya' later!
