Spawn Returns

At the "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" Premiere in Tempe, Arizona, comic writer Todd McFarlane showed up and IESB had the chance to interview him for some news on a new "Spawn" movie.

Watch the full interview here.

McFarlane said that he's got five offers on the table, ranging from big studios and big budgeted productions with a lot of special effects, to low budget, small ideas, including one that he even wants to direct himself.

"It's not a 'comic book movie,' it's just a scary movie, a creepy movie," said McFarlane. "Everything's real except for one element, which happens to be the character we know as Spawn. So it's not going to be supervillain vs superhero or any of that stuff, it's just going to be a 'tight' movie."

McFarlane said he wants to make something for his kids to watch (he has two teen daughters and a 9-year-old son). I don't really see how because Spawn has some real scary villains (will they be used?) and the character is dark as...well...may be darker than Batman.

At the end of the interview McFarlane says rights will return to him and he plans on continuing the "Spawn" animated show that aired on HBO many years ago. I have seen the original "Spawn" movie and the animated show and can say the movie is okay (a decent introduction to the character) but the animated show is really awesome and graphic but has no ending.

That always bothered me so hopefully the animated show will return with more Spawn killing bad guys. A new movie might do well too, but will it be big budget or small production?
More news to come! Catch ya' later!
