Movie News Mash 4

"Terminator Salvation" Composer

According to MTV News, "Danny Elfman has confirmed exclusively for MTV News that he will be composing the music for McG’s new post-nuclear-holocaust Terminator installment of the blockbuster franchise.

'I just started yesterday,' Elfman told MTV News from the red carpet of the Critics’ Choice Awards. The Academy Award nominated composer from films like 'Good Will Hunting,' 'The Corpse Bride' and 'Batman' indicated that the original 'Terminator' theme by composer Brad Fiedel was not in use yet; nor is there mandate to incorporate the classic symphonic hook. He did, however, leave the door open for its appearance.

'I think if it comes up and it seems appropriate, we will [use it],' Elfman said. 'And if it doesn’t, we [won't]. I never really know what to expect when I begin other than just kind of get into it and have fun. Especially a movie like 'T4' – just have fun. So that’s what I intend to do.'”

Elfman also did the theme for all three "Spider-Man" films.
Do you think Danny Elfman is the right choice to compose the music for "T4?" Do you think they don't have to use the familiar "Terminator" sound from the other films?

Boyle on Hero Films and "Judge Dredd"

According to MTV News, "'Slumdog Millionaire' director Danny Boyle may not like superhero movies, but that hasn’t stopped his production company DNA Films from picking up the rights to a new 'Judge Dredd' installment. Asked about his personal involvement, the Academy Award buzz-maker played it coy.

'Someone asked me about Judge Dredd the other day!' Boyle told Empire. 'I hated the last version of it; I can’t imagine the next one will be any better.'

Boyle further cooled the Internet speculation machines with biting words about the superhero genre in film.

'Not a great fan of superhero movies,' he stated. 'We need those extremes of storytelling, but are reluctant to use them in anything other than fantasy movies.'”

There is rumor that Boyle might end up directing the new "Judge Dredd" film. If he thinks it will be bad already, I don't think that will be a good idea.

More news to come! Catch ya' later!
