According to The Geek Files, everything about POTC 4 is a rumor.
Some of the rumors include the wild speculation and some very dubious reports that Johnny Depp was to receive a whopping $59million salary for the next film, Tim Burton might take over as director from Gore Verbinski, and Sacha Baron Cohen or Russell Brand could star as Captain Jack Sparrow's brother.
Pirates of the Caribbean writer Terry Rossio (who also wrote Shrek and National Treasure: Book of Secrets) debunked the rumors and facts of POTC 4.
"For the record, none of the recent Pirates 4 rumours have any truth, including the so-called record 50 million dollar payday for Depp. Some pretty funny stuff, though. Sacha Cohen? Tim Burton? Studios are way too protective of their franchises for that sort of thing. "
So what true news is out there about POTC 4? None yet.
