The Die Hard Legacy

Die Hard is a series of films about an officer named John McClane and his heroics.
What made these films define heroics and adventure was one man and his seemingly unstoppable nature. The four films shall be discussed so that you may know all about them.

Die Hard - Made in 1988 and became a major hit, the film centers on John McClane rescuing his wife and civilians from a supposed terrorist takeover of an office building. The story through the first half-hour is so dramatic that you can understand the characters problems immediately and then the plot takes off into the adventure. And Bruce Willis has never done a more tough role than as John McClane, and Alan Rickman (his first American role) plays the bad guy so well (as he does in many movies like Harry Potter). And you can't forget the famous quote that just had to be used in all four movies. Yippy-ki-yay motherf****er! 8.8/10

Die Hard 2: Die Harder - Some may say this 1990 sequel is a rehash taking rewards from the original film. Being a sequel, it had to have more fights, more action and more explosions. It is still good because it has a brand new story and brings back all the characters we love from the original. In this film John McClane must deal with mercenaries who take control of an airport's communications and threatens to cause planes to crash of their demands aren't met. Bruce Willis reprises his role and takes down the baddies as a one man commando. An entertaining sequel is you enjoyed the first one. 7.5/10

Die Hard: With a Vengeance - It was a 5-year wait for the next film, but it was worth it. This film brought back many of the story elements from the first film and introduced a new character that lent McClane some much needed help for his new adventure. Samuel L. Jackson played a shopkeeper who inadvertently ends up helping John McClane stop a madmen who is playing games to terrorize New York. With more twists than a twizzler this film has the greatest story thus far and will keep you entertained until the epic conclusion. On another note, Vengeance is sometimes said to be the fan favorite of the Die Hard films. 9/10

Live Free or Die Hard - Many fans thought Die Hard was gone, but in 2007 the 4th installment of the series came out picking up many years from the last. McClane is now an older man but still retains his toughness, if not even having more. Now he must deal with an Internet terrorist organization that is slowly shutting down all the technology in the United States. With the fate of the country at stake the fights are tougher and the explosions are bigger. The only difference that die hard Die Hard fans will notice is that this film is PG-13 while the past three have been R. Still, this film is a worthy addition to the Die Hard series and is a good action flick all around. 8/10

Catch ya' later!
