Harrison Ford is in 'Cowboys and Aliens'

Yesterday a rumor hit the 'net via Latino Review that Harrison Ford was going to be in Jon Favreau's "Cowboys and Aliens." This being just a rumor and not being fact, I did not post about it since I' rather hear about Ford being in the film rather than Ford might be in the film.

Now Favreau has confirmed via Twitter that Harrison Ford is indeed joining the cast of the film, which is currently scheduled for a July 2011 release.

He will star alongside "Bond" star Daniel Craig, who's playing cowboy Zeke Jackson, and "House" star Olivia Wilde, whose role is a character called Ella.

Details on Ford's character are as yet unknown, but the script was adapted from the Platinum Studios Comics graphic novel written by Fred Van Lente and Andrew Foley, which is about a flying saucer that crashes in Arizona in the mid-1800s.

Craig's character leads Western settlers who must set aside tensions with the native Apache and join forces to fight off the extraterrestrial invaders. Wilde's character is assumed to be the leading lady and love interest of Zeke Jackson.

What do you think of Ford joining the cast of "Cowboys and Aliens"?

I read about this yesterday when it was still in the rumor stages. I didn't think it would actually happen, though. Glad I was wrong. James Bond and Indiana Jones in the same flick--again! Sort of like back when Sean Connery was in "Last Crusade" with Harrison Ford...

Cowboys and Aliens looks like it's shaping up. I may have to see this one, definitely...

Wowzers! That reference to Bong and Indiana Jones sharing the screen again didn't even hit me. Now that is just plain awesome. ;]

While the story sounds a little hokey, the cast and team behind the film are all excellent. Can they make a project like this a good comic-to-film adaptation?

We'll have to wait and see...
