Penelope Cruz Joins 'Pirates of the Caribbean 4'

Heat Vision is reporting that Penelope Cruz is "in negotiations" to join the cast of "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides."

We don't know much about who Cruz will be playing, but she's apparently "[Jack] Sparrow's foil and equal in many ways." So she's kind of a pirate villain?

Cruz will be joining Johnny Depp and director Rob Marshall (who directed Cruz in "Nine") for the fourth installment in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise. The script is being written by Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio.

The new film is based on the book "On Stranger Tides" by Tim Powers and has Depp back as Captain Jack Sparrow in the search for the Fountain of Youth.

Happy to hear that Penélope Cruz is setting sail with the Pirates crew?

"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" will begin shooting this summer and Hawaii and will hit theaters on May 20, 2011.

More news to come! Catch ya' later!
