'Prince of Persia' Trailer Has Arrived

The trailer for Disney's "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," a film based on the video game, has debuted online.

The story is set in medieval Persia, where a king and his son, Prince Dastan, defeat the powerful Maharajah and kidnap his daughter Tamina. They begin looting his palace of priceless treasure, including an extravagant hourglass, when the prince finds a mysterious dagger that holds untold powers.

The film looks like it will be at least decent. Two of my favorite parts of the video game were the relation ship between the prince and the kidnapped daughter (which they seem to have done in the trailer) and the amazing platforming (bits of wall-jumping can be seen in the trailer as well). I am looking forward to seeing this movie. I can only hope it won't be another addition into the lackluster trend of failed video game adaptations.

"Prince of Persia" stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Alfred Molina and Ben Kingsley with Mike Newell ("Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire") directing. It is due in theaters on May 28, 2010.
