'Underworld 4' Gets Delayed and Won't be in 3D

The fourth film in the "Underworld" series has been delayed from its original release date of January 21, 2011 to September 23, 2011.

Box Office Mojo says the film is 'no longer in 3D' which begs the question of why its release is being delayed. After all the talk about this film being in 3D and now this delay, I can only wonder if there is trouble brewing behind-the-scenes.

Len Wiseman, who directed the first two films in the series, is apparently returning to direct "Underworld 4," although Kate Beckinsale previously expressed reluctance on returning for the fourth film.

But if Wiseman, Beckinsale's husband returns, than it is most likely that she will return to the franchise as well. If she does, "Underworld 4" might be her last time as Selene as she may hand the reins over to another character or have a different actress portray the lead role.

'Cop Out' Red Band Trailer

A red band trailer for Kevin Smith's "Cop Out" has just come out online and it is a whole lot better than the first trailer.

The original trailer marketed the film as having more action than comedy, making it look like a different version of "Bad Boys" or something. But this is a Kevin Smith film, and while there may be some action involved, this film is meant to have more laughs than explosions.

"Cop Out" is going to be filled with raunchy language that cannot be contained in any green band trailer. So watch the new trailer below and see if it makes you want to see this movie.



I'm still not convinced to see this in theaters...though that bit with the kid was pretty funny though.

Fast and Furious 5
Vin Diesel and Paul Walker have signed deals to return for a fifth film in the "Fast and Furious" street-racing series.

The Universal Pictures movie - so far known as "Fast Five" - will see Dominic Toretto (Diesel) and Brian O'Conner (Walker) as fugitives being pursued by relentless lawmen.

Director Justin Lin and writer Chris Morgan will be back to direct and write "Fast Five," respectively, after working on the third and fourth movies together.

The film will begin filming later this year for a 2011 release, says Variety.

The Lost Symbol
Dan Brown's best-seller "The Lost Symbol" - the third book in his "Da Vinci Code" series - is to be turned into a film by Columbia Pictures.

British writer Steven Knight, whose screenplay for 2002's "Dirty Pretty Things" earned him an Oscar nomination, is to adapt the book, reports Variety.

Tom Hanks is expected to reprise his role as Robert Langdon who, in this latest tale, is summoned to Washington to decode the symbols of the Freemasons.

Even if "Angels & Demons" didn’t hit the same level of financial success that "The Da Vinci Code" did ($486 million and $758 million, respectively), the studio still has high hopes for "The Lost Symbol" movie. Neither Tom Hanks
nor director Ron Howard have signed on to star and direct again, but it’s likely they will after being given a very hefty checks.

Mark Millar has been talking about the sequel to one of 2008's surprise hits, "Wanted", based upon his comic miniseries with artist J.G. Jones. The film, staring James McAvoy as Wesley Gibson and Angelina Jolie as Fox, made about $340 million worldwide on a budget of $75 million, making a sequel inevitable. And according to an interview by IGN with Millar, "Wanted 2" may finally be close to going in front of the cameras.

Superbowl TV Ads

Some movie TV spots for the Superbowl have been put online early. One is another look at "Shutter Island" while another is a look at Ridley Scott's "Robin Hood." My favorite though is the first glimpse at the action of M. Night Shyamalan’s "The Last Airbender." Dare I say that commercial is filed with epic awsomeness (though I am biased because I love the show).

'Kick-Ass' Red Band International Trailer

We’ve already had a red band "Kick-Ass" trailer which focused specifically on Hit-Girl, but today a new one has appeared online. It starts from the top again, with the opening scene, and goes through all the introductions. So if you haven't heard anything about "Kick-Ass" yet, you can start here and get a taste of the bloody violence that this film will bring

"Kick-Ass" is about a teenager who one day decides to dress up in a costume, give himself a name (the titular Kick-Ass) and proceeds to try and beat the crap out of the bad guys in his town (often to no avail). His actions inspire others, including Hit-Girl (Chloe Moretz), Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage).

This latest trailer is not as explicit as the previous red band trailer as it lacks the same amount of gore and swearing, but there is still tons of fun stuff to watch. There’s still violence, blood being spilled and Chloe Moretz throwing in a swear word or two (just wait for the end of the trailer!).



"Kick-Ass" is both written and directed by British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, of "Layer Cake" and "Stardust" previously. The story is an adaptation of Mark Millar's comic of the same name that is currently in the middle of its first series.

Lionsgate is bringing "Kick-Ass" to theaters on April 16.

'I, Frankenstein' gets 'Underworld 3' director

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lakeshore Entertainment has bought the script and is readying an adaptation of Kevin Grevioux's Darkstorm comic series "I, Frankenstein."

"Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" director Patrick Tatopoulos will be directing from a screenplay written by Grevioux. Production is scheduled to begin in July of this year.

"I, Frankenstein" is a contemporary fantasy thriller in which the original monster of Victor Frankenstein stands between the human race and an uprising of supernatural creatures determined to overthrow the world.

Published by Darkstorm, the comic brings together classic monsters including the Frankenstein monster, the Invisible Man, and Dracula, in a contemporary film noir setting. Frankenstein has evolved, learned how to control his anger, and acts as a private investigator. Dracula, meanwhile, is a kingpin of crime, and the Invisible Man is a secret agent.

"It is a privilege to be given the chance to direct this highly visual piece," Tatopoulos said about the news. "Grevioux has created something truly special with 'I, Frankenstein' and I couldn’t dream of a better team than my friends at Lakeshore to make this project happen."

Could the possibility of more than one film in the "I, Frankenstein: story be in the works? Gary Lucchesi, President of Lakeshore Entertainment said this :

“When Kevin Grevioux and Robert Sanchez presented us with 'I, Frankenstein' we knew immediately that this was a great and original franchise that could best utilize Patrick’s extraordinary talent and vision.”

It does indeed sound like an original franchise concept and will be different from the several dozen remakes and reboots we will be dealing with over the course of the next few years.

It's funny to see how popular the comic book medium has become for the film industry when even obscure and not-even-released comics are becoming films. Exciting times!

Olivia Wilde in talks for 'Cowboys & Aliens'

Olivia Wilde ("House," "The O.C.") is in negotiations to star opposite Daniel Craig in the sci-fi Western “Cowboys & Aliens.”

Directed by "Iron Man's" Jon Favreau, the Dreamworks project is based on a comic book about a flying saucer that crashes in Arizona in the mid-1800s. Western settlers must set aside tensions with the native Apache and join forces to see off the extraterrestrial invaders.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wilde is up for the role of Ella, a young woman who teams up with Craig's "mysterious gunslinger" against the alien invasion.

Wilde's previous movie experience includes "Alpha Dog," "Turistas," "Year One" and the highly anticipated "Tron Legacy," which is set to be released in December. She's got the acting chops, so hopefully she also has the action chops to stand-up with Daniel Craig against alien scum.

Craig is taking over the role from Robert Downey Jr., who dropped out in January.

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are producing and wrote the script with “Lost” co-creator Damon Lindelof. Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are also producing along with Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, who created the graphic novel upon which the movie is based.

"Cowboys & Aliens" is expected to begin shooting in July for a 2011 release date.

The complete list of nominees for the 82nd Academy Awards, the most prestigious award in Hollywood, have been announced today (via Oscars.com). SOME SURPRISES

Does "The Blind Side" deserve a nomination for Best Picture. While it did well in the box office, can it be considered that good of a film while other movies, such as "500 Days of Summer," get left out in the cold. Seriously, no nomination for that film anyway?

And "Invictus" gets its casting nominations, but not a Best Picture nom? I admit to having not seen this film, but it seriously just feels like one of those movies that will get nominated. If it gets the acting noms, it gives more credit for the Best picture nom as well. Guess not always...

But the big battle will be between "Avatar" and "The Hurt Locker." Directors James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow will duke it out once again as the two were once married. Now that is a very fun and interesting fact!

The Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2009 will be presented on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood and Highland Center, and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. PT.

'Clash of the Titans' International Trailer goes for some plot

A new international trailer for "Clash of the Titans" has debuted on IGN, and it mixes some elements of the original teaser and theatrical trailer as well as some new scenes involving Zeus (Liam Neeson) and Hades (Ralph Fiennes).

I have to say, I still think this looks awesome and I can't wait to see it, but we're nearing the point where I just don't want to see any more new footage before seeing the actual movie itself.

"Clash of the Titans" is set for release on March 26, 2010, but might be delayed until April so that it may be converted to 3D.

Either way...this trailer makes the movie look badass and I will be seeing it when it comes out. Hopefully the film hasn't blown all its awesomeness in the trailers and leave nothing new for the rest of the film.
