Another Reason Not to See Peter Berg's 'Battleship'

The latest announcement for Peter Berg's "Battleship" reveals that pop singer Rihanna will join Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Kitsch in a story taking place across the seas, the skies and over land in a battle for planetary survival against an alien force.

While this film is an adaptation of the Hasbro board game, it bears little resemblance to it and is really just using it for name recognition. The same goes for Rihanna, who is making her film debut with "Battleship."

But how often do singers work well as actors? Plenty have tried, but many have failed. Examples include: Cher, Madonna, Sting, Alica Keys and Mariah Carey.

Just another reason to skip this film and go see something more worthwhile. It still will make tones of money from the GMA though.

"Battleship" hits theaters May 25, 2012.

Every time I read some news story about this movie I would swear it's a joke article. This thing's goin' downhill fast.

I mean, Rihanna? Seriously?

I couldn't believe this at first either until I read it straight from Variety.

So is Rihanna supposed to be a part of the Navy or something? Eh...
