David Lindsay-Abaire, who won a Pulitzer in 2007 for his drama "Rabbit Hole," is in final negotiations to write "Spider-Man 4" for Columbia, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Lindsay-Abaire has said in interviews that his plays tend to be "peopled with outsiders in search of clarity," which would put his work on sympathetic terms with Peter Parker, who in his classic incarnation is the perpetual outsider," according to the article.
With Sam Raimi returning as director, Tobey Maguire returning as Peter Parker, and Laura Ziskin and Avi Arad returning as producers, the film will have all the marks of its predecessors. Kirsten Dunst also is expected to return for the fourth Spider-Man as well.
Having a good writer won't seal the deal. I am waiting to see who the villain is and who will play him/her/it.
Spider-Man 4 is hoped to get a release in 2011.
