X-men News: Deadpool and First Class
“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” producer Lauren Shuler Donner said during an interview on Fox Movie Channel’s Life After Film School that “First Class” will truly live up to its name by focusing on the founding days of the mutant group.
"It is the first class of Xavier’s school, way back when, so it’s young Scott, young Jean, young Beast and that’ll be really fun,” Donner said. “I think [the plan] is to follow some of the characters into their own stories, and weave them back into the X-Men world … And hopefully ‘First Class’ will become its own franchise and we can follow them as they grow up.”
I wonder how this will work in the continuity of the films since the founding team members in the comics included Ice Man and Angel, and in the "X-Men" films they were clearly not a part of the original group.
Wolverine was also not a part of the founding team and with his new movie coming out soon (with a young Cyclops already in it) we will have to see how things work out.
According to MTV Splashpage, "Last week via Twitter, Rob Liefeld [co-creator of Deadpool character] posted that he had spoken with 'Wolverine' producers who told him there were 'definite plans to spin off Deadpool if the box office works.' This was bolstered by the fact that the film’s re-shoots included more screen time for Reynolds as Wilson, who Liefield mentioned, 'was chosen specifically with the idea that he would carry [a possible] solo film.'”
But considering that Wilson turns into something other than Deadpool at the end of "Wolverine," how will there be a Deadpool movie? More news will have to come out on this later after "Wolverine" hits theaters May 1.
More news to come! Catch ya' later!
