This movie is getting remade again!
According to Bloody Disgusting, "While chatting with Declan O'Brien about his forthcoming direct-to-video effort 'Wrong Turn 3', he revealed exclusively to Bloody-Disgusting that he just optioned the rights to Roger Corman's classic 'The Little Shop of Horrors!' 'Actually its been a busy time for me. I just optioned Roger Corman’s 'The Little Shop of Horror,' which I'm setting up as a big studio remake,' he said. 'We're in the process of talking to studios this week. It will be a remake of Roger’s original 1960’s movie. I don’t want to reveal too much, but it’s me, it’ll be dark,' he explains. 'It wont be a musical.'"
According to First Showing, "While all of films O'Brien has directed have either been straight-to-TV or straight-to-DVD, he says they'll be setting up this 'Little Shop of Horrors' remake as a studio feature with Andrew Tennenbaum ('The Bourne Trilogy') producing. The original 'Little Shop of Horrors,' directed by Roger Corman, was released in 1960; later on in 1986 after a successful Broadway run, Frank Oz directed a musical remake of it for the big screen starring Rick Moranis. The story in 'Little Shop of Horrors' is about a florist who finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant named Audrey who constantly demands to be fed."
What do you think? Would you like to see a dark version of "Little Shop of Horrors" instead of the original comedic versions?
More news to come! Catch ya' later!
