According to First Showing, "Universal is adapting the Milton Bradley board game 'Battleship' and has hired Peter Berg ('The Rundown,' 'The Kingdom,' 'Hancock') to direct. Wow. Can anyone else believe this? Universal has a deal with Hasbro and has been setting up huge projects based on various board games like 'Monopoly' and 'Candyland' previously, but now 'Battleship?' Brothers Jon and Erich Hoeber (of only the upcoming 'Whiteout' so far) will write the script. The game will, obviously, be turned into an epic naval action adventure movie."
While I enjoyed "The Rundown" and hated "Hancock," Berg definitely has his hands full in taking this classic game (with no plot to it) and creating a full tangible story. Will it be like "Pirates of the Caribbean" except with modern ships and less Jack Sparrow?
More news to come! Catch ya' later!
WARNING! Playing Battleship can lead to anger, insanity and murder!

Ha! It's actually based on the game, too? If it wasn't May, I'd say this was an April Fools' joke or something.
And the fact that Monopoly and Candyland have been optioned makes it even more hilarious. Or all the more tragic. I can't decide yet.
Maybe it will have Jack Sparrow too lol
I'm still hoping for a Hungry Hungry Hippos movie being made as a horror film.
They are mutated hippos that eat people!
