Those of you who are looking forward to the fourth installment in the "Resident Evil" franchise, entitled "Resident Evil: Afterlife," will have to wait a while longer before you get to see it.
Shock Till You Drop has learned that studio Screen Gems has pushed back the fourth "Resident Evil" from its originally planned release date of August 27, 2010, until January 14, 2011.
Apparently the studio realized that the film, which is currently shooting and will be the first in the series to be presented in 3-D, would require a little more time in post-production than had originally been expected.
In order to fill the gap left by Resident Evil's move, Screen Gems has decided to release "Priest" in August of 2010. Starring Paul Bettany, and based on a comic book, Priest follows a warrior priest who teams up with a sheriff and priestess to fight vampires.
The interesting thing is that Milla Jovovich stated on her Twitter (also here) that "RE4" is not officially pushed back...yet.
"RE Afterlife IS NOT officially pushed. There have been talks of pushing it as they r not sure they can have it ready by july. We r trying as hard as we can to still meet the summer deadline though, so for the moment its still on for Aug."
Resident Evil: Afterlife will see the return of franchise lead Milla Jovovich, as well as Ali Larter, Spencer Locke, Wentworth Miller, Shawn Roberts, Boris Kodjoe, Kim Coates, Norman Yeung and Kasey Barnfield. It’s directed by Paul W.S. Anderson ("AVP").
What do you make of "Resident Evil 4" being delayed almost five months or do you believe Jovovich that they can still make next summer's deadline? Are you a fan of the series so far? Do you like that the next installment will be in 3-D?
More news to come! Catch ya' later!
