In a interview with MTV News on the National Board of Review red carpet, Ivan Reitman was asked point-blank if he was returning to helm the third installment of "Ghostbusters." His answer was an unequivocal “Yes.”
Reitman said that the script from "Year One" writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky is in and that a second draft is currently in the works.
"They have delivered a draft," Reitman said of the script's progress. "We are working our way through another draft... good work is being done and all of us have our fingers crossed."
When bringing up a production schedule, he added, "I hope to start shooting in this next year." This makes it so the film will have a planned 2011 release.
Give or take the new screenwriters, it looks like the whole family is back again for "Ghostbusters 3." We've known for a while Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson and even Rick Moranis, would be back, but now I think it's time to cast the newcomers.
What do you think of the original "Ghostbusters" director returning to go for a third round?
More news to come! Catch ya' later!
