Spider-Man 4 to Begin Shotting in 2010

J. K. Simmons, who plays the role of J. Jonah Jameson in the "Spider-Man" franchise, said to MTV News in an exclusive interview that filming for "Spider-Man 4" will begin in 2010 and the studio will be aiming for a May 2011 release.

J. K. Simmons said he saw Sam Raimi (director of the "Spider-Man" films) at a Christmas party and they discussed the films and the character of J. Jonah Jameson.

“We’ve definitely brainstormed ideas for Triple-J, but I have no desire to make Triple-J more of the focus of those movies,” Simmons said. “The amount that I did in 1, 2 and 3, is just exactly right. Like be the wolf. Come in, blow in, do a week, blow out, be the comic relief, and hit the road. And let Tobey and everybody else do the heavy lifting.”

According to MTV News, "Both Sam Raimi and Tobey Mcguire are expected to return, but have yet to formally commit. Kirsten Dunst is also up in the air, although the actress has voiced her willingness to continue as Peter Parker’s love interest."

"Spider-Man" and "Spider-Man 2" came out only two years a part and "Spider-Man 3" cam out three years after 2. This would make a four year delay between the last film and it is because it has taken a year and a half to finally get talks about making the next "Spider-Man" film made. Right after the third film, Sony should have gotten talks started to try and bring back all the actors and creators of the original trilogy. But maybe this delay will create a better film with new villains (and a possible back-to-back shooting of a fifth movie as well).

What are your thoughts on having "Spider-Man 4" in 2011 (same year as "Avengers")?
